Gravatar I used to start almost every morning with a bottle of that awesomely sour white grapefruit juice. Then it slowly seemed to disappear in favor of over sweetened pink grapefruit juice. Or at least it disappeared from where I used to buy grapefruit juice, that being gas station convenience stores.

Maybe this was the root of my problem, expecting my daily dose of sour fruit goodness to be supplied by a gas station.

Gravatar Coincidentally, today's xkcd tackles the question of Grapefruit in an aggressive fashion.

Gravatar White, sour/bitter grapefruit aren't even grown anymore, but they used to be the only goddamn grapefruits. Red, sweeter ones are a pretty recent invention and incidentally the first fruit ever patented. We are soft and squidgy with designer-bred palates. Our communion with nature is mediated by Archer Daniels Midland. I weep.

Gravatar I feel as if they must not use particularly great/sweet/delicious grapefruits to begin, and that there is probably a lot of the bitter oils from the outermost skin getting in during the juicing process.

You can tell an excellent piece of citrus by the palatability of the pith and skin.

But people will look at you funny when you eat a whole, entire, slice of orange.

It just means you are more badass.

Gravatar bananas are genetic clones of one original master banana. like hass avocados.

Gravatar furthermore, if real milk is the #1 ingredient in snackpack pudding, how come you don't have to refrigerate it?

Gravatar I have wondered this for a long time, myself. I think it has to do with the processing. You can buy fresh grapefruit juice at multiple markets near where I live and it is all tasty.
