TP manufacturers get free product so they are clueless/deal with it because it is tEh free and that extra inch could mean their jobs.

Have you never noticed how much bigger Mcburgers look in the ads than in real life? This is the result of the "small hand" model. Maybe there are small butts involved here.

Lee: That makes me remember a McAd back in the early nineties that had Michael Jordan, and I remember that he had to hold the sandwich with just his fingertips... because his gargantuan basketball-palming, boat-paddling paws could have enveloped /three/ of the bloody things. I think they learned their lesson.

You know, I've been bothered by this narrow toilet paper my whole life, without ever realizing it until now when reading this post. It's like the end of the movie when I realize the twist and suddenly everything makes so much more sense.
Seriously though, why is the paper so narrow. Who are the companies that make this paper? Can we contact them and ask?

the problem is really that the tp in those bathrooms is made of real paper. i mean that stuff is downright rough.

I am so pleased that you are able to speak of the problem that dare not speak it's name.
In other news... just wanted you to know that I still love the Dog Blog. Episode 300 was inspired. Inspired I tell you!

The whole 1-ply, wafer-thin, non-perforated, too narrow TP thing makes their prices look good per-roll. But, as you pointed out, I end up using about 3x the normal footage just to get the same performance, so the savings are all shot down the drain. Not to mention the non-perforated rolls also tend to be the size of bike tires and mounted, FOR NO REASON, about 1 foot too low, so the amount of over-spin waste on those things in monstrous. People should really buck up and pay the extra for the good stuff. Environmentally and fiscally sound. Plus, happier employees/patrons.
Why is the government not working on this?

*gasp* i THINK i may be able to tell you why it's unperforated. this is from the experience of shit australian public tp that is exactly how you describe BUT is perforated. The problems associated with it are beyond ridiculous. think for a moment about the ramifications of having THAT large and heavy a tp roll that has weak sections. you try and pull some sheets down and one bloody square rips off and the rest of the roll is stuck in the holder beyond reach and you cut your fingers trying to grasp it! a public toilet is not the best place to have an open wound.
also nice to know youre a folder. represent.
