Thanks for the nod, man! Those asterisks feel soooooo good!
What was that word, by the way? Scat? Slut? Spot?
It's all so confusing to me.
GREAT post!

I don't know about Tennessee in particular but my personal experience of working with adults who were home schooled as children is that they are very often lacking in social skills since, I believe, they were isolated from other children and didn't learn the interactions and such.

As a man with experience with both Tennessee homeschoolers and government functionaries I can tell you that the entire issue is simply a matter of efficiency.
The fact that homeschoolers can achieve the same questionable educational value in four hours that takes public institutions six to seven hours a day to provide sets a dangerous precedent.
If these sort of people were allowed t enter state government service, you might end up only spending half a day waiting to be treated rudely in a state office instead of a full one.
Chaos would only be a step away.

Gawd! This is hilarious! Except that it is so true.
I have 3 home-schooled sons who have all graduated (in Texas) and any post test they have taken that have done excellent on.

Hey Don, so you used the photos I sent you of my brother and sister? Cool. I look just like my sister....but don't tell anyone. For my blog I use a photo from a magazine and that I "re-work" in PhotoShop. But you wouldn't know about that...since your photos are so genuine. Alrighty then!
(I can see I'm going to have to find a new theme for my comments here. I could go with the authenticity of your writing...you know....like how journalistic your style is. I think that would work....don't you? I mean you never lie Don. That would go against your religion.)

I understand Tennessee's stance. Government only works if all remaining creativity, leadership, ethics and independent critical thinking skills have been expelled from the individual cogs before they are shoehorned into the cubicles that direct the mind-numbing machine of state work.
Homeschooled and unschooled kids haven't experienced 12 years of public school and are therefore have many more of those "undesireable" traits. In short, they have been free to think for too long and are ruined for state or federal jobs.
Do you want anarchy, man?

Ah, the declining standards of education. In my state, the schools that follow the syllabus set by the state government took away the marks/ranks system and converted to a grading system that makes no sense. Thus, this year, instead of the usual 70% pass rate in the state board exams, we have an unheard of 93%. And I don't believe it's because the students suddenly became smarter.

Also, you mention to your readers that there is a back story to my comment at the previous post. Be sure and tell them that there is also a front story! I like to be sure both the back and the front get equal time.
