Gravatar Dear Don,

I have to tell you that I am shamelessly crying right now, and I don't mean just a few tears in my eyes. I mean tears running down my face. This is SO well written that I feel as if you reached across hundreds of miles and told me to remember the things that are important, remember to be thankful for what we have, and to live, really live, because there are those who never got to and never will. You are a good really person and this is SUCH an important message. Your line:

"Think of the things he missed, for the things you have."

That says it all. You have shared one of the most important and wise messages that you could give anyone, and for that I thank you. Beautiful beautiful writing. I am so touched and honored to connect with you here. Robin

Gravatar Well done, Don.

Today I will remember him and all those who joined him in dying so that we could live.

Gravatar I'm still amazed by those bombing raids, especially since so many were done in daylight and they were just supposed to let themselves get shot at on their way to their target.

Gravatar i think i am so lucky to have been born just at the end of the last war (1944) even so, we have had the Russian threat, Suez, Vietnam, Weapons of Mass Destruction...we seem to be determined to end everything.

So many young lives have been lost.

when god decided to invent
everything he took one
breath bigger than a circus tent
and everything began

when man determined to destroy
himself he picked the was
of shall and finding only why
smashed it into because

Gravatar Wow. Thank you for sharing that. He was a great American hero.

Gravatar Wow, Don this reads like the 'Someone You Should Know' series on blackfive.net.

Maybe if more people were exposed to these kinds of stories they would think differently about the sacrifices our servicemen and women make for us.

Gravatar Thanks for sharing that story. Consider the glass tipped.

Gravatar Hi Don,
