I find it very odd that the FBI was involved in such a case. Even if it wasn't domestic I would think that it would still be a matter of contacting the police first.
This Hans Schmidt guy is an American who once was friends with and "adviser" to Jeff Gilooley, (don't ask me how to spell it), Tonya Harding's husband back when they put that hit out on the ice princess. I think he's from Washington State. I saw him on E True Hollywood Story acting like some smug legal genius. He's just a creep and a con-man. He "produced" (stole) a few celebrity sex tapes too. His name pops up on the gossip sites and TV now and then. That's why the FBI is involved. He's probably in Germany, faking an accent, to get closer to Cruise.
