The most likely cause of Sharon's stroke is, that he most likely was placed on Warfarin to prevent further strokes caused by his heart defect whilst awaiting surgery.
When the level of warfarin gets too high, people are at an highly increased risk of bleeding and this includes brain heamorrages, which are usually fatal.
