Kill the cop. Is there any question as to liability if the student produces evidence?

Gravatar i know you dont want to hear this and think im nuts; but tomorrow is coming and she is bringing hell with her

Gravatar Dov Bear,

Any comments on the coverage of what happened to Channon Christian and Christopher Newsome?

Gravatar Who?

Gravatar Deplorable.

Gravatar Remember, no profiling allowed. Clean cut kid with 2 pills must be considered the same as a junkie.

Gravatar >>Who?

Precisely. Look them up on the net. It is amazing that this was not publicized.

What is your opinion?

Gravatar Back to this topic, what the cop did is wrong. The fact that he is denying that his friend brought him the description makes him a complete criminal, in my opinion. He should be fired and forced to do 1000 hours of community services. For YU.

Gravatar This attitude is remnant of the cutthroat rudy giuliani nypd.

Lock up the kid with a legitimate claim to two petty pills, while the real rapists, theives and drug pushers are running free. As long as the kid with joit gets arrested, he "cleaned" up the streets.

Gravatar wow, when the kid even had a perscription? ick.

Gravatar I guess the cop was upset that the subject didn't have any Vicodin for him.

Gravatar A few hours in jail versus the fates of what Amadou Diallo, Patrick Dorismond, and the fellow at his own bachelor party suffered at the hands of the NYPD? No disrespect intended, but Simon Weiss should count his blessings.

Right because rape, drug selling -- and especially murder -- went up drastically during the Guliani period.

Gravatar murder went down in the entire country, it had nothing to do with giuliani's superficial crusade against squeegie men and the visibly homeless.

Gravatar Amshinover
You still on crack?

Gravatar Moo
I'm no friend of Guilianni but you are wrong on the numbers.Crime in New York was down much more than the rest of the country and continued to go down even when its started to rise in the rest of the U.S.A.
This was reported in the New York Times many times.

Gravatar AFAIK, Vicodin is legal. The "controls" for this drug are on doctors and sellers (druggists). Was Weiss accused of "dealing" in Vicodin? Was Weiss arrested for having Vicodin? Or was he arrested on an unrelated matter and had his Vicodin confiscated?

Gravatar why were they pulled over? Why were they searched? There had to be some primary offense...and what that offense was may shed light on the police's actions

You are right that possession of Vicodin is not illegal, unless one uses fraudulent means of obtaining it. But you place undo trust in the police, with your post, which implies because what he was arrested for something that was legal, there must be something illegal that he did. You seem to think that no police officer would arrest someone for something that is legal. Police officers are not lawyers and are often not knowledgeable about what the law is, other than very basic ones. They frequently use boich svaras to determine what the law is, or try to impose their own notion of what the law should be.

I can assure you that this officer never read any statutes or case law governing controlled substances.

Gravatar Something is missing in the story, why did the police search him ?

I was pulled over countless of times in many states and was never searched. I guess those students just gave the goishe cops an attitude as it is the minhag in those neighborhoods.

Me would not mind to be put in handcuffs, arrested and stay up all night by

Gravatar Vegan, I'm not implying what you think I'm implying.

Gravatar Wow...I expected a story like this from the Israeli police...not NY's finest.

Gravatar Er, has the Town Crier lost his homepage?

Gravatar I know they have a tough job and a lot of them do a fine job but as someone who lives in New York I can tell you a lot of them are just lousy. I could go on and on but I will give you a couple of examples. A few years back I was at Coney Island and witnessed a guy repeatedly hitting his girlfriend during a quarrel in plain view of several cops who I could hear arguing about the Yankees game from the night before while they did nothing and bystanders had to break it up. Another time I witnessed a teenage girl beaing beaten by a group of girls while I was waiting for the bus and I saw with my own eyes two cops observe the fight as this girl was being beaten and then turn around and go the other way. Then there is the way the NYPD talk to people, so if you don't live here or haven't lived here I don't think you can judge the situation from your experiences with local cops in your community.

Gravatar so if you don't live here or haven't lived here I don't think you can judge the situation from your experiences with local cops in your community.

You mean they don't call you "sir" or "ma'am" with exxagerated formality as they put on the cuffs and drag you away?

(BTW, I knew I had joined the adult world when I got pulled over for some minor traffic violation and the cop, who looked like a high school kid, called me "sir." I was in my early 30's at the time and looked a bit younger.)

Gravatar Weiss was driving while on Vicodin. Not smart.

Gravatar i google-d Simon Weiss vicodin, and got a few hits.. including a clip from CBS TV news, which opened with - i kid you not - a commercial from the NYPD!! Now that's funny!

Gravatar You're worried about a lawusit? You're a big liberal democrat, aren't you? You should be voicing full throated support of the aggrieved Mr. Weiss. For shame on those bad policemen. They should be made to pay! Bad policeman! Good plaintiff lawyer!

Is that not a fair summary of your liberal democrat view of life?

Gravatar Common Man

1) You're an idiot
2) Where did I say anything about the lawsuit?
3) You're an idiot

Maybe shut off Rush and Hannity? It'll clear your head.

Gravatar Touchy, I see! The truth hurts. You libs crack me up. You obediently absorb whatever the Times editorial tells you, and yet at the same time accuse others of being led by Rush and Hannity. Wanna know why you guys are known as hypocrites? It's not just the type of "affirmative action for thee, but not for me" double standards you routinely engage in. It's dumb comments like this.

Grow up, you moron. Don't let your little website get to your head. People read your blog for an occasional witty comment and the Jewish issues discussed, not your reflexive "white men are evil" anti-republican tirades. Your beatnik era lefty politics make you a laughingstock. But the Jewish issues are pretty good.

Gravatar OK EZ

Gravatar Good Shabbos to you, too.

Gravatar Off the pigs!!

Gravatar just joking, of course.

I would never advocate violence. "off" in this case, means than over-zealous LE should be fired and not be allowed to have any subsequent jobs in the security field (i.e security guard, private detective, etc.)
