Not really.
He has a little more size than Eckstein. He has more power, and overall hitting ability. Hilligoss will be tough to strike out, but not on the level of Eckstein. Finally, his defense doesn't measure up to him at all.

Having covered Mitch all last year during an SI repeat here, he's a heady player who does most of the fundamental things well. In his time between short and third, he was solid in the field. At the plate, he's a line drive hitter who can spray balls to both sides of the field.
Mitch has excellent speed and will do what it takes to win games. What I liked most was his plate discipline. And his demeanor is a winning one.
The lack of power is true but maybe over time, that can develop.
It will be interesting to see how far this talented player goes.

Frankly, this is EXACTLY the type of player the Yankees need these days. I really hope they take a look in their system and give this kid a look before signing somebody else to a long term deal.
