Red Sox sign J.C Romero .

Theo's doing big things. The Redsox are back in world series contender...As a Yankees Fan, I wave the whiteflag for 2007. Cashman is an overrated Gm and He didn't make anymoves to strengthen Yankees rotation and bullpen

Gravatar JASON:

HAHAHAHAHA! That really made me smile. You are an excellent comedian. Hahaha.

Gravatar Where was Cashman when the Sox got Donnely, Romero?

Joe Torre was asked one thing at the beginning of this off-season... what improvemnets would you like to see in 2007.. and you know what Joe said? MORE OPTIONS IN THE BULLPEN.

yet Brian Cashman has given torre no more options..

if anyone thinks torre is gonna trust britton, you be fooling yourselves.

Theo Owns Cashman.

we won the division last year by 12 games"

and matzuska will win 20 all by himself which means the red sox will win the division by 8 games next year.

cashman simply hasn't done a good job.

Gravatar Jason, I really hope that you are being sarcastic.

Gravatar Yankees shoud hire another assistant general Manager to help Cashman and making deals quicker. Redsox front Office who did hire Ex Royals GM Allan Baird as assistant general manager to Theo. Baird who helps offseason plans and decide what deals Theo can make. Also Theo have Jed Hoyer and Ben Cherington as an assistant.

Gravatar Where was Cashman when baby Theo reached into a bucket of shit and pulled out Romero and Donnelly? He was laughing his ass off like the rest of us.

Where do these illiterate Sox trolls come from?

Gravatar Rumor Has it When Schilling leaves and retires next year , Redsox might go after Carlos Zambrano who will be a free agent next year. Theo and Co are already scouting potential free agent pitchers next year.

Gravatar Malik, it's a little early for that kind of speculation.

Gravatar Cashman, were waiting.

We can't hide around this any more, the Red Sox look better now with their bullpen, the Yankees need to make more moves, I'm not talking about getting All Stars, I'm talking about getting some depth, some pitching, Cashman come on man, make some moves, make a statement, not an expensive one, just a statement.

Gravatar Does anyone know when Carla Pavano files for free agency next year? Does his contract expires after next year? thanks

Gravatar Pavano is under our control for 2 more seasons.

Gravatar what a surprise, the Yanks are ALSO interested in Zambrano. But this time, there's no blind auction to win his rights. He'll be a true FA (unless the Cubbies re-sign him).

Gravatar what a joke..

idk if anyone witnessed Tim Kurkjians comments last night on sportscenter, but while i was watching he had the nerve to say that the red sox had the best starting pitching in the american league. I mean, how could he possibly say that? After ending with one quality, proven starter, and so far projected to start this season with one quality proven starter, how can he say such a thing? There really needs to be a sportscaster on ESPN who doesnt favor the red sox, but i guess thats too much to ask.

Gravatar I find it funny that arguably one of the bottom-5 teams in starting pitching last season improves that much by adding one starter and converting one reliever to a starter.

I'll say my prediction early: The Yankees have a better team ERA than the Red Sox.

Gravatar Dice K: 0-2 in 2002 World Series

Dice-K went 0-2 in Yomiuri's sweep of the Lions in the 2002 Japan Series. Godzilla, in his last games for the Giants before becoming a Yankee, did not hit him well, but DIce-K did not dominate.

Check this out from YouTube--Dice-K giving up a 2 run bomb. Could this be a sign of games to come, especially at Fenway?:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G...h? v=GIXp1aReMaQ

Gravatar No one knows for sure how Matsuzaka is going to pitch here, but he's been in a lot of high-pressure games (in the Japanese World Series and in the Olympics) and he's come through. I don't think one two-run bomb tells you the whole story. Every big-time pitcher -- even the greatest pitchers of all time -- have given up home runs in World Series games.

The thing that gave me pause the other night was that Boras, on ESPN, already seemed to be trying to temper expectations. When asked to describe Matsuzaka as a pitcher, Boras said, "He's not an overpowering pitcher; he's a precision pitcher. He has a 93-94 mile an hour fastball. He's like a Mike Mussina. Or a Greg Maddux. But he has more pitches than them."

I find that to be a BIZARRE comparison. Maddux? Whose fastball can't even touch 90? And more pitches than Maddux and Mussina, who both notoriously throw everything known to man?

The Matsuzaka who threw in the WBC wasn't a precision pitcher; he was a power pitcher who used a four-seam fastball to gun everyone down.

I don't think Matsuzaka, in his first year, will be as good as Mussina has been as recently as 2003, but he will probably end up being the best pitcher on the Sox's staff

Gravatar This looks like a make or break year for Brett Smith.

Gravatar Recent moves by Theo makes Redsox bullpen so scary and formiddable.

Here's my point

Lefties - Romero - He held lefties batting avg. .202 last year

The Yankees lineup mostly heavy left-handed

Okajima - lefty specialist/ setup man in japan.

He will probably goes in big game against - Matsui, Giambi , Cano

7th inning- Brandon Donnelly - Bulldog, Workhorse and Intimidator. He likes to wear his glasses and be gagne like

8th- Tavarez - "Freddy Kreuger" Should I say more? He was converted to starter and eat innings especially depleted and injuries on redsox rotation last year. Tavarez works on his conditioning and stamina last year , get ready for next year.

9th- Timlin - Closer- "Old Crone and Antique" Jeter's had a hard time against Timlin.

As a Yankees Fan, Never underestimate the Redsox Bullpen next year.

White Sox have acquired left-handed reliever Andrew Sisco from the Kansas City Royals in exchange for first baseman/outfielder Ross Gload.

I wouldve liked the yankees to get sisco.. The white sox gave Russ Gload back infielder for talented Andrew Sisco. Are you kidding me?

Gravatar Gonzalez

in 2006:

against the mets 1 ip 1er

against the whitesox, indians, tigers, royals, and twins he had 7.2 ip 4er

2005:

mets 1ip 0er

against the AL: 3.1 ip 1 er

2004:

mets 1ip 1er
AL: 4.2 ip 0 er

so add em up against the mets, and the AL in 3 years he has 18.2 ip and 7 er

a 3.46 era in 3 years.

good yes, hardly dominating though.

not a monster sample size, ill agree, but enough to give us a basic idea at least

Gravatar getting back to this gonzo fella. ive said it earlier, that i really know nothing about the kid. he may be the next coming of mariano rivera, who knows, but all i know is, the last pitcher coming from relative obscurity in the NL, to a big time AL East team to produce big time was Pedro Martinez (from my memory at least), and that was almost a decade ago.
i dont feel good about the move one bit.

To be fair the names on the list coming from the NL arent too impressive. We're talking about Carl Pavano, Matt Clement, AJ Burnett, Jaret Wright and Josh Beckett. (AJ Burnett is a career .500 pitcher who's been injury prone, and Josh Beckett lives off of a dominating postseason). None of these pitchers have been able to sustain that type of success over 2-3 seasons. Im not even sure what relievers have come from the NL to AL the past couple of years. But Gonzo the past three years has been flat out disgusting. I forget the exact numbers but hitters are hitting a collective .220 off of him, while lefties are hitting about a Buck 80. He also converted 24/24 saves last season for the Bucs. Granted it was for the Pirates, but lefties that can run it up to 98 mph with a nasty slider, and is in the prime of their careers don't grow on trees.

Gravatar Dear Santa,

My Christmas Wishlist for Brian Cashman - players to get

1)Sign Free agent Piniero as long man and Taiwanese Chin-Hui Tsao who throws near 100 mph fastball/slider combo

2) Sign Chris Reistma - as insurance policy and moved Britton to triple A

3)Trade Melky and Eric Duncan, Beam for Gonzalez. Sign Damon Hollins or Alexis Gomez

4) Sign Toby Hall or Rod Barajas

Report: Yankees dangle Cabrera; Igawa deal close[/b]

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/ne...tory? id=2699700

[quote]A three-team trade reportedly is in the works that would send outfielder Melky Cabrera from the New York Yankees to the Atlanta Braves.

The deal, an unnamed baseball official told the New York Times, also would send reliever Mike Gonzalez from the Pittsburgh Pirates to the Yankees, and first baseman Adam LaRoche from the Braves to the Pirates.

The Yankees also were close to completing a five-year, $20 million deal with Japanese pitcher Kei Igawa, according to the official, who requested anonymity because he wasn't authorized to discuss trade possibilities publicly. That deal was expected to be completed Sunday, pending a physical, the Times reported.
