Sadly he is far from stupid.
I do think he's a dangerous psycho, but he does all of this on purpose : raising fears, trying to get votes from the extreme right... remember the elections in 2002 : all people talked about was "insécurité".
My only hope is that people will realize how mad and mean and dangerous this guy is. I know people who met him personnally, he scares everybody !

It was only a matter of time before a situation was sparked in the tinderbox of the French suburbs. While the French Government has ruled with its laissez faire approach, many of its inhabitants suffer the effects of inequality, unemployment, and marginalisation, particularly North African migrants. Instead of sidestepping this reality by deluding itself with the imagined notion of a community sipping wine in Châteaus with sexy French girls, the Government would have been much better of remembering the Revolution! One resident has summed up the situation by saying;
“Anything could have started it,” … “When you’re an immigrant here, you’re just stuck in your shit. Does it really surprise you it’s going up in flames?”

My response to Jamal on his blog with a similar post...
I think part of the problem, as wayne’s comments show, is that people just automatically think that the rioting “scum” are fresh off the boat immigrants, when in some cases we are talking about people with “no jobs and no education” who are born in French with French born parents have been ignored by the system for two generations. I disagree with the “not wanting to learn the culture” comment, because it just feeds into what Mr Sarkozy wants us to think: that these people are not really French and thus do not have the rights that are due to normal French citizens. Until the French public realizes they are dealing with “French” people in these suburbs, nothing will move forward.
Another problem, which Sarko doesn’t want to admit to, is that because of the cutting of the French private sector, is that they removed the “police de proximité” so when Sarko goes to “clean up” with his “pressure washer” it is automatically the CRS, a national guard type force.
What odes cleaning the suburbs mean? Like Azouz Begag said, “I clean my car with a pressure washer, not someone’s neighborhood.” So finally, even the “assimilated” “immigrants” feel rejected just by dint of living in these areas. Especially when they get checked for their passport every five miuntes by the cops, and especially when they throw tear gas in a mosque and nobody says anything…where is the “security” Sarko is supposedly bringing? I could go on but I will stop hogging your comment box…
Thank you for coming by my blog and Eid Mubarak.

I KNOW!!! AHHH I F"N HATE IT. saying "IMMIGRANTS", what word is that. large part born and raised and identify as French, even if society tells them different. It makes me so mad. Because in America, it conjures up an image of fresh off the boat/illegals, rioting, when they should be expecting nothing from society as they are "immigrants", while that is absolutley not the case. French government has failed. La Courneuve, this, what is next??
