Gravatar I keep up with a few private blogs that have a loyal readership.

And if possible, I would like to be included.

Gravatar So long as I still get to read about NH and his personal relationship with bleach, I'm good. And by the way, I'm going to be in Stuttgart starting next Tuesday!!

Gravatar I don't really understand what happens when a blog goes private, but I'm assuming that there's some kind of password system, or whatever. Is more "identity protection" the purpose? Or, is it so that one can talk more freely about specific people, etc.? Not sure...
But, I'd continue reading...

Gravatar I'm with you!

If your favorite readers show up here and its passworded, I think we'd email you to say Let Us In!

Good luck!

Gravatar I'd keep reading. I wish I could go private - my drunk aunt is starting to comment on my blog again - but I'm too narcissistic.

Gravatar Salaam Aleikum,

If you do go private - can I still come??

I don't have enough people read mine now so there's no way I'd go private - but if you're already thinking it then I say yeah you should.

Gravatar Salaam 'alaykum dear DP,

I'd definitely be interested in being taken along for the ride if you decide to move - and if you'll have me, of course!

I moved to Wordpress because I wanted to have the option of private posts. I haven't used them yet but knowing that they are available puts me at ease.

I've tried keeping up two blogs at various points but it just doesn't work for me - the quality of both ends up suffering.

You might want to try one WP blog with password-protected posts for your personal posts and public ones for the ones on current affairs/writing/etc. You can always expand to a second blog.

Just my two cents Good luck with you rdecision!

Warmly,
Baraka

Gravatar I would be sad if you went private and I lost your voice.

There are a number of blogs written by Islamic women that I follow -- yours included. Together you have given me a wonderful small window into each woman's world, how faith informs that world, and how different and yet the same our lives sometimes are. Several of the women have removed their blogs from the web, or gone private and I while I miss them I am not all that certain, should I request access to read the new blog, that access would be granted.

I am not your typical demographic. I'm American, a married gay-woman (I live in Massachusetts where it is legal)of ambiguous Christian spirituality (started out Southern Baptist have migrated to Quakerism because of peace and social-justice issues). The voices of you and your fellow Muslimahs give me great hope for the fate of our world. Sharing some of your everyday trials and joys reminds me that looking only at the big picture of how "dire" everything is leaves the majority of the tale untold.

Discovering you all was a great gift from the "Internets". I'd like to think that if you remain open, that others with minds more closed than mine could be affected as I have been affected and be the better for it.

[I have given you the link to my blog though it is mostly the place I post angry letters I have written to politicians who aren't going to read them anyway.]

Gravatar ooooooh pretty pretty please let me come too!

I think the private thing is cool. Im not a frequent blogger, but I almost had a heart attack when I found out someone in algeria is reading my blog. Good thing I don't use my blog as a place to air out the dirty laundry. I think it can open up the door to a whole bunch of drama.

We're with you DP!

Gravatar I moved to wordpress and have enjoyed it. I have a friend who went to private and then went back to public. One thing to keep in mind is if you go back to public, some readers may want you to delete some of their comments on the private blog.

I'd like to be included, if you don't mind.

Gravatar Salaam Alaikum

I would still read, whatever you decide.

I moved to Wordpress for it's password protected posts, I've just written my first.

I know what you mean about wanting to have a public and personal aspect to your blog, I have the same dilemma.

Gravatar Salam. I'm mostly a blurker but I'd love to continue reading your blog, if you'll have me. Thanks.

Gravatar i haven't been reading your blog as much as i used to but enjoy it and would hope to still read it.

what makes you want to go private?

Gravatar Hey, I'd still want to read if you went private DP...count me in.

Gravatar If you go private, take me along with you! I can't read your adventures enough!

Gravatar hi there.i am still trying to find ur email but cant.i would very much like to be invited to read ur private blog.

Gravatar Salam DP

Could you please include me too? I'm your long time fan and I'd be sad if I couldn't have my DP fix. hehe. It's up to you. I'd also suggest going to wordpress and password-protecting the sensitive posts. If you're going that route, I'd also suggest giving those passworded posts ambiguous titles so as to keep it completely mysterious, should someone from your RL ever pop in.

Gravatar Assalamu Alaikum,

Dude I know I'm late but... two things. One, I agree with Baraka- when peeps try to do the two blogs thing, the quality isn't as good. I'd get over my hurt feelings at not being able to read all of your posts but you're a voice that I'd love to read whether or not a password was necessary, you know?

And also, is there a way to have private posts without everyone seeing that they're private? Does that make sense? I was wishing for that the other day. What I do now is just write a post but leave it as a draft if I don't want the whole world to be reading it, but that might not work for you.

Anyway, inshaAllah khair whatever you decide.

peace
Twenny

Gravatar I would read... For sure. I think going private can allow you to talk more in depth about things that you wouldn't want just out there... It has its pros and cons.

Gravatar I'll read your blog, private or public, as long as I'm invited.

Gravatar it's your blog and therefore your choice but since you asked for input, I think you should NOT make it private and strongly recommend continue your blog as you always have done. Think of whom you may touch if you stay public and the impact of a missed opportunity to make a difference if you go private.

Most importantly, there are countless jerks on this planet, and you just have to learn how to not be affected by them.

Gravatar as long as I can still read I'm all for the private blog. I swiched to Wordpress last year and love the flexibility of having some posts protected and some open for all to read

Amira

Gravatar Sorry I'm late to this train -- a month of vacation, etc, etc.

I would definitely keep reading if you went private (as long as I were invited, of course!)

Gravatar Salam sis.. did you know on wordpress you can make individual blogs private and you can transfer all your blogs from blogspot :D Just a suggestion, and you had better let me know if u go all 'private' :P fi amenallah, miss u on the forum
