Seattle Marinerds

Gravatar OK, I'll bite. What camera (and lens) do you shoot?

Your photographs are stunning! You portrait of O'Flaherty, f'rinstance, would look right at home in Sports Illustrated.

Gravatar Thanks. I don't think they're THAT good but I'm glad you like them...

I use a Nikon D50 with a 70-300 G lens, or did for most of these, at least.

Gravatar Yeah, D -- I agree. These shots are nice! Gotta love Nikon! My favorite has to be this one of RJ. That 70-300 lens is probably the best bang-for-buck buy you can find in cameras these days. Glad you're enjoying it.

I thought I sensed your swoonage. Except, I was convinced you were twitterpated over J-Rod the Washburninator's High-K performance. 'Twas nice to get one of those performances on my fantasy team (isn't he on yours, too???)

Gravatar I actually don't have Washburn on my fantasy team... I dropped all of my Mariners except Soriano and Felix.

But I like Washburn and he's still got the bluest eyes in baseball.

Also, bleh, I need better light in my computer room, because suddenly it looks like I overcompensated in editing those pictures, because I was doing it at 2am. Ugh.

Gravatar Yeah -- welcome to the world of monitor calibration and screen variance. Half the pictures I work on at home on my laptop look horrible on my monitor here at work. Either the lighting is off, or the color. And I never ever trust the "autolevels" and "autocolor" settings. I'm going to have to go back and redo a lot of the early pictures. They're WAAAAAY off because of the bad CRT monitor I was using. They look bad both on my laptop and on my LCD at work.

That's why I get some of 'em printed. Or convert 'em to black & white.

Wow -- I thought for certain you had J-Rod on your fantasy team. Surprised to hear you only have Felix and Soriano.

Gravatar I have to figure out how to get stuff printed. I'm hoping next month to get some of the A's to sign some of the pictures I took a few weeks back.

also, uh, so do these look okay to you, then? I really need to figure out a good way to compensate for lighting/monitors.

Gravatar Do you have a Costco account? That's where I get mine printed. By far the best place -- you can upload the pix you want to print at www.costcophotocenter.com and have them ready an hour or two later. I'd considered not renewing my membership, but since I've gotten back into photography, I've changed my mind.

12x18s in 1 hour for $3. 8x10s for $1.50. That is hard to beat!
