Deanna,
Thanks for taping the song of Sledge. He went to my high school (many, many year after me). I linked back to this story in the link above.
Did you notice you walk past a Softbank store on the way to the Sapporo Dome?

Don't mean to rain on your parade (it's raining here in Kanto), but according to SpoNichi, Tadano was only slated to throw one game and be shipped back to the farm team.
After that review of how he threw, I don't understand why they don't give him an extension.

WHAT
That's retarded.
It figures, though. I was seriously thinking about buying the letters to make a "Tadano #16" jersey today, but held off because I figured if I did that he'd totally flame out. GRRRR.
Bob, thanks for the link! I'm glad I can be of help -- and you'd be happy to know there are actually a decent number of Sledge fans out here. (One lady told me, "He's been working very hard since he came over to Japan and so I respect him very much.") But I have to point out that... well... there are Softbank stores everywhere in Japan. They're one of the three major cellphone carriers here, you know -- Softbank, DoCoMo, and KDDI. So you're basically saying the equivalent of "Did you notice you walk past a McDonald's on the way to Chiba Lotte Stadium?"
(Since Lotteria competes with McDonald's for fast food. I mean, Nippon Ham and Softbank aren't even in the same market...)

I'm glad Sledge is making an impression. But if the fans could work "Granada Hills" into the song, that would be really cool. Or at least JFK. Sledge moved from North Carolina to California when he was fairly young I believe. He went to Long Beach State.
I guess the Softbank store made more of an impression on me because I kept walking past it during the 2006 PL playoffs (I refuse to the official name because it sounds goofy in English.) So, I had Softbank on the brain.
I own a similar old style Nippon Ham jersey. I'm guessing I bought a bigger size though. In Japan, I usually just stand in front of the jerseys and try to look helpless until someone finds the one that's the biggest size for me.
