Seattle Marinerds

Gravatar Do you have any idea about a release date for Land of the Rising Fastball? I have been waiting for a while for it to come out. I am really looking forward to it.

Gravatar No idea. I did my interview with Lance almost a year ago -- you should ask him about it...

Gravatar I'm not really sure if this is the place to ask this, but it turns out I'm going to Tokyo from August 11th to 24th. I'm thinking about catching a baseball game if I have the time. Of course, while it'd be great to catch the Eagles, turns out they're playing at home for most of the time I'm there, and then up in Hokkaido for the rest. Just my luck.

Thankfully, it seems that the Fighters are playing a series at the Tokyo Dome during that time. My question is, based on your experience, are there usually tickets left by game time? I really have no idea what my plans are, so I don't want to reserve anything in advance if I can't make it.

I guess if I can't make it to that, I'll try going to one of the Swallows/Tigers games. I guess there's a Giants/Tigers series going on at that time too, but I don't even want to bother with that mess.

Thanks for your help in advance!

-Nate

Gravatar The Sapporo Dome looks like an attraction all by itself.

Check out this video of the field transforming from baseball to soccer mode. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1...h?v=1q24-- xddtM

Gravatar Nate, that's really funny. Though, actually, you can get to Sendai in about an hour and a half by Shinkansen and it costs around $100 each way -- totally doable for a day trip or weekend trip, depending -- what are you going to be doing in Tokyo? Business trip or for fun?

The Fighters/Buffaloes games in the Tokyo Dome will not sell out. I guarantee that. I'm going to all three games, will be sitting in the rightfield stands with my friends.

I would actually say a Swallows-Baystars game has a lot better chance of not selling out, unless what you really want to see is the Tigers. You know that Chiba, Seibu, and Yokohama are all within an hour of Tokyo too, right? Yokohama games NEVER sell out... neither do Seibu...

Gravatar I'm going for fun. I have about practically all of August from when my job ends until I have to be back for college classes. So, I decided to go and visit some friends before classes start. I'll be there from the 11th to the 24th.

I'd go to Sendai, but my lack of money and time might work against me.

Because the Fighters are one of my most favorite teams (I've liked them longer than the Eagles actually), seeing them would be my first choice.

I totally overlooked that the Baystars and Carp play each other in Yokohama while I'm there. Even though I admittedly know very little about both teams, I've always liked Yokohama since when I was in Japan during high school., I watched them kick the stuffing out of the Giants my first night there. And since I visited Hiroshima and was right outside the stadium (and had a chance to buy goods, but passed up on it, Stupid move) I kinda grew a fondness for them too.

Swallows/Tigers I guess will be my third choice by default.

I also have to make an attempt to get something Eagles related. That probably won't be easy in Tokyo, but nonetheless. I eventually want to have at least something from each team sometime in my life, so if I manage to get something from any team, I'll be happy. I already have a Fighters T-Shirt hanging on my wall... so 11 more teams to go.

Thanks so much for your help! Hopefully I'll end up at the Tokyo Dome!

Gravatar Ah. Well, if you have time, feel free to drop me a line and maybe we can catch a game together. I'm not sure how much time I have in that frame though because some friends are visiting me from Seattle for the second half of August, though, and I am planning to go down to Koshien for the tournament at some point. But even if you are at a Fighters game, we can probably meet up before or after or something like that.

Oh, you can totally get Eagles stuff here in Tokyo. The Tokyo Dome has some and maybe some other stadiums too too. It won't be a great selection, but there will be some.
