I am glad you posted this. Even though Australian Troops are stationed in these 'shit holes' I would hope they know we appreciate their efforts. The same as we do that of our allies. You might want to check out a yahoo group called Jaypalooza - we have adopted many military people and send them letters and care packages (why should we wait until they return to show our appreciation). Even though they are not my country men/women I think it is very important they know we care.

One of the other similarities is that the war seems to be run almost as a live fire training excersize and not a real war. Go in, take an objective, leave, and do it again next week. I wish the politicians would let the troops do what they are trained to do AND all of it.
Keep up the good work. There are people at home who know you are doing a great service to America and the whole world.
