What may help you is to try and funnel the idiots into a certain thread. Every week I have my "Ask A Troop Sunday" post where I let anyone say anything they want regardless of the level of idiocy, but on the other days I delete the idiot posts. So far it seems to be working out pretty well. The number of posts I delete on the other weekdays has dropped off pretty steeply and the quality of the posts on Sundays stays pretty high.

One thing: I WANT them to attack us. That lets my readers know that the crazed anti-war moonbats aren't a myth: they are real. And they hate us and will do anything to undermine our victory.
And THAT makes the true-believers that back us, back us even more. They do nothing but strengthen my target audience. And THAT strengthens my support on the homefront.

I found the comment you quoted disgusting. While there may be room for debate over exact details of policy, only an idiot would think we can fight terrorists by appealing to their "better natures". The only language they understand is violence.
I wish that were otherwise; I don't enjoy violence, and I don't imagine you do either. But, if someone intends violence, you only have two choices: let them win, and encourage violence, or stop them. And yelling "Stop it! Be nice!" only works on little kids, not terrorists. Clearly, some people have never had to face anything more scary than little kids.
The fact that they haven't is due to the sacrifices of guys like you, whether they have the brains to understand it or not. The entire comment was vicious, unfounded, and uncalled for, but personally I found the most outrageous claim to be the one about "Nazis".
If this woman had been dealing with real Nazis, she wouldn't have dared to speak the way she did. Either that, or she's even more stupid than she sounds. Even idiots usually shut up when a gun is pointed in their face.

There must be something so true about the content of your blog to strike such a venomous response by that commenter. I'd wear it as a badge of honor.
The individual who made those comments is obviously poisoned by hate, lies, anger and self-loathing for her own country.
I wonder whether the military service she claims for herself and her family are true. I cannot tell you how many times I have seen these claims by supposed "veterans" that were totally false.
She strikes me as another sad example of the "peace fascists" who consistently fail to convince American voters to accept defeat in our war against Islamic radicals. Instead of accepting that the issues have been decided and working together in a united fashion to assure the swiftest, safest victory for all of us, they continue this campaign of hate.
Your commenter demonstrates symptoms of a political pathology that must be defeated at the ballot box if we are to defeat the enemies which threaten our country.

I guess I was most amazed when he said Jane Stillwater is interested in going to Iraq as a "real journalist". That would be something to see, don't you think? As usual, this uninformed female has no knowledge of the truth and would not know it if it was stuck on her. I hope the troops know the people here respect and admire them for the job they are performing under such difficult circumstances. I only wish the military would make it easier to support the troops by sending packages and such. They endured Valley Forge, Gettysburg and the Alamo while knaves such as they pranced about prattling on to be forgotten, disdained, and held in contempt by their betters.
