It sux that this has happened, actually it's downright infuriating, but it would be far sadder for you to walk out on something you have fought so hard to build than to scale it down for a little while. Sorry, I can get a little brutal when it comes time for the truth and I can understand you are frustrated, but we never gave up on you guys so don't give up on us.

I'm not the "Cut and Run" type, but like I said, one possibility is "opening this up" to all of you, while we're deployed (and we would, of course, email in posts to people on our co-author list, so they could publish them for us).
Y'know, like "caretakers" while we're gone.
We're ready to do that, and is actually my preferred Course of Action, but I can't "force" anyone to help us out.

I'm sorry, I forget other countries are slightly more sensitive than Aussies, and in my defence I did read it before I submitted it to make sure it wasn't too bad.
I'm sure there'll be no shortage of volunteers, I for one will put my money where my mouth is (after I remove my foot) and help out wherever I can.

I have been a lurker on this site for some time now. I'm guessing that there are lots of us lurkers who will be dissapointed, and will be waiting patiently (and praying)for you to come back. I would be willing to post them for you.
I understand the OPSEC and realize the posting would not be quite the same.
I would also be willing to send you military and political stories/events that you could add a note to before being posted.
Perhaps we can keep this up and running.
The most important part being your little notes letting us know that you and Cav Tanker are OK.

As for the RVF: plans to end it on Veteran's Day are in Limbo right now. We'll see what develops.

Hey MG, as far as the RVF goes, just means you'll have to let us have our bloody turn!!
I know some people struggle with it but I am willing to fill any gaps.
This thing is bigger than Ben Hur, so to speak. It's people reaching out across the world. I bet the freaks didn't manage that (If they got an Aussies on board, let me know and I'll look the traitors up!!).
There ARE things we can do. We can post tributes to fallen soldiers, articles we come across and of course any updates you guys can send.
As you have all seen, I'm no Oxford Scholar (unlike someone I could mention) but I'll help out if I can.
I like the way this heading so much better than how it started out.
What the Chic said...I have no tech ability whatsoever...but I was thinking...are there enough of us doing the RVF for each of us to take a day or two each month on a regular basis? Like I would take the first Monday of the month? Or would that be too confusing? Just a thought.

I'm sorry it's come to this and yes it sucks. But I would recommend the email to someone who could post it on your site. You still need to be careful in sending out group emails with opsec considerations. If you write the email knowing it is to be posted on your blog I think you will be more mindful of that and less likely to "spout" off if you're upset about something. Just my two cents here.
I'll miss ya but you'll still be on my blogroll and I'll keep you in my feedburner just in case.

Sorry to read about what is going on with Tanker Brothers. Hope that you can still keep in touch with your milblog readers somehow. Even though I am a civilian I am an avid milblog reader. I do not watch or read MSM anymore. I will really miss your milblog. Take care and the best of everything for you guys. Thanks again for letting me participate in the RVF. When you are deployed make sure that the soldiers who wish to be adopted submit their names to Soldiers' Angels. I would be more than happy to adopt another soldier.
I understand the situation but I'm still sad about this. I check this blog every day to see what is really going on. I don't trust the news coming from the networks or the news channels anymore (well maybe Fox!). I like the idea of having the regulars continue it until you get back, if that counts for anything.
I would also be willing to adopt someone who is not getting any mail or packages. I'm a big Nascar fan and I have a lot of magazines I could send to somebody.
Anyway, you be careful over there!
Computer issues yesterday so I'm just now getting caught up! MAN! This will blow if it hibernation turns out to be the answer, but deployment is a time for concentration on missions & any communication to the states first and foremost has to be to family. So, I absolutely understand the predicament.
I hope you could find a way to keep it going through the core group you spoke of b/c I know lots of readers, myself included, who would want to hear from you & your brother whenever possible.
Well I support whatever you do. Updates would be grand. I'm here no matter what.
Also I completely agreed with centcom's (?) decision regarding the Jane issue, but this one upsets me

Sorry to see you go, I wrote most of my posts on a personal laptop and emailed them to blogger (yes there is a setting to do that). The problem with getting more real with your blog is that all almost all of the hot burning milbloggers burned out. Either burned out by writing or burned by the military. There are ways to do it, you just have to be careful about what you say. Vague is better. Take care and keep your head down.
