Gravatar Leta thank you so much for this wonderful tribute to a Fallen Hero. To Matt's family, our condolences go out to you. You're in our thoughts and our prayers as you mourn your Hero.

Gravatar Dang...

My heart hurts for those who have been touched by this great Warrior.

We pray that you will find peace and comfort.

Leta ~ Thank you for sharing this inspirational Soldier with all of us.

WE WILL NEVER FORGET THE SACRIFICES OF OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN!

Gravatar Each soldier lost is so important - remembering and paying tribute to them individually is so very important. If it wasn't for heroes like Matt we would not be as free as we are today - always remember that. God Bless his family.

Gravatar We will continue to pray for the soldiers and their families. We will say an extra prayer for Matt and his family. We truly appreciate the sacrifice of him and his family and want them to know that they are in our thoughts.

A truly lovely and moving tribute to an outstanding American and an unbelievably
brave Soldier.

God Bless America,

Liam

Gravatar SFC Matthew Blaskowski Rest in Peace - as you soar with the Angels.

"...may you find some comfort there."

Gravatar SFC Matthew Blaskowski gave, cared, and achieved more in his short life than most people do in a lifetime. He did it for us to help make the world a better place and needless to say we can never thank him and his family enough.

Gravatar I can imagine how hard it was to write this post, Leta. You are so proud and have so much affection for the guys you support and each one of them is a part of your family. Thank you for doing something that must make your heart break with every word.

SFC 'Ski' will be sorely missed but his service and sacrifice will NEVER be forgotten. He is a hero -- always was and always will be.

Semper Gratus!

Gravatar Beautiful post, Leta. We've certainly lost an American hero from what I've read today. I'll be cross-posting this on my site.

So very, very sad. You could tell he was a Soldier, through and through, not only by his awards but also by the opinions of others and his attitude toward returning to the ME.

Gravatar A soldier's soldier. Now he's soaring on the wings of eagles. Rest in peace Matt. Well done and God bless you.

Thank you Leta for sharing this great man with us all.

Gravatar Farewell and Walk with God, SFC Ski -

A beartiful tribute.

Gravatar Walk in glory, dear warrior;
You have served well and lived well.

For your family we offer our Gratitude and prayers.

Tears on the keyboard,
and tears on the FRB labels and Custom forms, already filled out and sitting in the car for the trip to the post office with Matthew's name on them. Gifts from the heart for Matthew to "take care" of his men.

He is safe in God's hand,
We are left with holes in our hearts,
But hearts filled with hope because such warriors as Matthew are taking care of business.

Freedom is not free, and we have again paid a great price.

BUT, we will
N E V E R F O R G E T ! ! ! !

Gravatar To the family of Sgt. "Ski," we all send our prayers over the death of a very special warrior. The next months and years will be hard ones for you as you struggle with your grief, but in the end you can be so proud of your son and brother for what he was and that his family helped make him the man that he became.

I appreciate this post. It was beautifully written and certainly expresses what all of us feel, but can not articulate.

Gravatar Thank you Leta, for writing this post. My prayers are with all of his family and friends.

Gravatar Heartbreaking.

May God comfort Matt's wife and Mother and Father, all of his family, in these difficult times.

Many prayers from the May family.

Gravatar DAMN, WHAT A SHAME. A TRUE HERO IN EVERY SENSE OF THE WORD. I WILL REMEMBER. ALL I CAN SAY IS THE PARACHUTE LANDINGS IN HEAVEN , ARE A LOT SOFTER THAN HERE ON EARTH. GOD BLESS HIM, I WILL BE PRAYING FOR HIS FAMILY.

Gravatar Rest in peace SFC Blaskowski. Prayers and comfort to your family.

Gravatar Thanks so much to all of you for the kind comments - to Deborah May, a Gold Star widow whose husband SSgt. Donald C. May, Jr USMC: Master Gunner
gave the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq on March 25, 2003 and to our coalition friends from Canada, Brat and Paladin, we remember your fallen heroes, too.

Gravatar Terry, Cheryl, Stan, Becky and Daniela-

What an outpouring of love and support yesterday. It was a beautiful, sad day, saying goodbye to Matt. We love you all so dearly, and pray for comfort in the days to come. May God mend our broken hearts, one day at a time.

Gravatar Matt, son I know you're listening up there.Thank you for all the good things you did in 27 years. You could easily have chosen to be less than the good man and paratrooper you were, but you didn't take any shortcuts. In a letter, I told you about Cade's Cove, a beautiful valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.I hope you're in the middle of that peaceful, beautiful place right now. My other hope and prayer for you is that, where you are now, a man gets to jump out of an airplane anytime he wants to.I figure with our luck they will have some...."air assault" person from the 101st Airborne in charge of things up there. If they get their wires crossed and try to put you on a damned helicopter instead of an airplane, some of us who haven't done much praying in the last few years will get real busy, and I promise, we'll get the mess straightened out. If you run into Sgt. EZ,remind him he's one of my heroes, too.

Gravatar Rest in peace, Sgt., with our deepest thanks. You are now in better company than ours. God bless your family and comfort them.

Gravatar I was deeply saddened to hear of Matt's death. I am so very grateful for his sacrifice and the sacrifice of his family. I can't begin to imagine the sorrow that is in their hearts. Although I never saw myself as blind to the war, it is so much more real to me now. So much more painful. As a result of Matt's death I renew my commitment to support our troops, and to make sure that the friends and family of my generation know the sacrifices that are paid on our behalf, and what would have certainly been if those sacrifices had not been made. My hope is this, that one day we will again see each other, where there are no more tears and no more pain. No more sickness, and no more death. Rest in Peace, and live with Jesus. Thank you Matt, and your entire family.

Gravatar Liz K ~ thank you for your touching comment. As a troop supporter it was important that Matt's life and sacrifice not go unknown or unnoticed by those who didn't know him. The men and women like Matt who make the choice to put on their uniforms and do what they do in service to this nation are our truest national treasures followed closely by their families who allow them to put themselves on the line every day.

From all I've read and heard from some of Matt's comrades in Afghanistan there is no doubt that he knew he was loved as much as anyone could be loved by his family. I only hope he knew how much he was appreciated by those of us Americans who reap the benefits of what our military does for us.

Gravatar Leta, I am SFC Matthew Blaskowski's mother. My husband and I would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything you do for our son and his soldiers. One of the few calls we received from Matt, he mentioned this wonderful woman who adopted he and his soldiers. He was very appreciative of everything that you did for them. Again Thank you so much for caring for all our soldiers.

Sincerely,

Cheryl Blaskowski
Mother of SFC Matthew Blaskowski
