Great post A_C. Pride in one's country is an awesome thing to witness. I hope your day was one of remembrance and pride for the soldiers and veterans.

Wow! I especially like the what you said "Australia is the body and the ANZAC Spirit is the breath of life.
To an Aussie, the ANZAC Spirit is everything, it is how we live our lives."
The Aussies can teach alot of us lessions in patriotism and pride.
They all seem to be proud of their country and are not afraid (do they have PC in Oz?) to show and live their ANZAC Spirit.
Are we Politically Correct??

Most of us are lacking the part of the brain that tells us it may not be polite to voice our opinions.
I guess we just have a different idea of PC here.

ANZAC day has been hijacked by politicians and people who think that patriotism is serving US power. By all means remember the dead but lets remember too that we have been in places we should not have been. We are not always the good guys. We wer not in Vietnam and we are not in Iraq. Australia illegally invaded Iraq for US power. Howard put US interests above Australia. He consented to a war that most Australians oppose. Where has Australia's opposition to authority gone when we so easily bow down the the USA? Australia should get out of Iraq. tell the US it will no longer fight its dirty wars and stop going down the path of US false patriotism. The US is responsible for war crimes and Australia should not be cheering them on.
