My two cents....The sad part about rude players is that, are more profitable because of their rudeness. There are plenty of pros that add annoying attitudes as weapons into their aresenal. No most of the online poker jabronis do it because it gives them pleasure, but effectively making players mad, gains an edge....sometimes a big edge, depending on how people respond to them.
One trick I found is to think that they are using it as a strategic tactic. Then I am forced to think, how do I combat someone with a good tactic......usually do the opposite. If someone says "You'll learn one day", I think you have two choices : repsond with 'niceness' which will sometimes even makes them mad, or feign weakness, which makes them more cocky and aggresive, which gets them out of line even more.
As far as the dentist......I am one of those that doesn't mind the dentist. Two visits ago, I actually fell asleep in the chair while he was filling the filing. Granted I have a wonderful dentist, that I totally trust, and he is willing to explain everything to me. He also has a pair of video googles, which you can watche while in the chair. You could record some world series play, and effectively be distracting your mind off the dentist. The more you relex and are able to breathe deep the easier it will go.
I also did the whole not go to the dentist while I was in college......then I went 6 times in a month before I lost my health insurance from my parents. I haven't had my widoms out or root canal, just plenty of deep filings.
Or just do what many folks do and turn off chat. Some nights I just put it on the Info tab (using PokerStars as an example). The info tab works well for keeping up with where you are at in a SNG so sometimes it is best to use it rather than deal with chat. Especially when multitabling...
I actually did that today (turned chat off) and I loved it! This is gonna be semi-permanent I think.
I believe I was responsible for one of those 2nd place finishes you were talking about (sorry). That was only the second time you and I have been at the same table, according to my records. I made some poor choices in that one and was lucky to have even made it to the final two.
As for the chat thing, I would simply turn off the chat for the haters. Since you are somewhat successful, and your blog makes your results very public, you can expect vermin like that to come out of the woodwork. Just take a look at the chat box when Raymer or Moneymaker are playing on stars for the worst case examples of this.
