Gravatar umm, i dunno? every bible is probably slightly different, so the 666 page falls on different passages depending on which version you have. also, even if you have the same version, but a different company printed it, the 666th page would probably again fall on different passages due to the differences in text size, length of the introduction, and the amount of space allocated on the bottom of each page for footnotes.

so its unlikely there would be scary stories about the 666th page of the bible. but come to think of it, i dont know any scary stories about the 13th floor of hotels. i just thought they didnt use that number because it was considered unlucky, not because it was horrific.

and that is kind of the insight in this joke. 666 is worse than unlucky, its EVIL. and not only is evil worse than unlucky, but you'd think a church would be more watchful of such a thing than a hotel business, wouldn't you?
