Sophie's dad is probably a basically good guy. Just utterly self absorbed, with a huge boundry problem and a penis that does all his thinking. She needs to confront him on "the secret" and she needs to come clean to her poor mom about it.
Good work Paul.

I love knowing that while there are still plenty of issues in Paul's life and the lives of his clients, he did make a big difference with Sophie. I felt so proud watching her stand up to her dad. I guess stories like these keep therapists from quitting their jobs.

I'm watching the last few episodes in preparation for the new season.
While this took place in TV time, I was so pleased with what Sophie did. There has not been a lot of happiness over this first season. While anything could happen, Sophie could even end up divorcing her Dad, her being able to hold her own and speak to him was great progress for her and her relationships.
Clearly having someone to trust who could listen helps.
(TV time being everything takes place faster. I remember a police officer saying a 60's cop show was realistic, but what happened in one half hour on the show was what happened over six months in real life. To praise the show, that is the main sacrifice made for a dramatic format. Much of the rest rings true, though the last Gina/Paul session I thought was more to move forward dramatically than serve realism.)
