I suppose it depends on what you want from the combination, whether you want subtle or bold looks. The beads in the pattern look very subtle but the edging is very bold, But if bold is what you want, you've got it! The orange beads look red on my monitor, so they look good with navy, like red shoes and purses do with a navy colored dress.
Perhaps what is unsettling to you is the fringe. The actual knitted with beads part has the beads blended in and they seem to add interest and sparkle. I like them.
For me it's the edging that isn't working because the colour is massed there. The beads in the knitted section are lovely.
I think I am not really going to know until it is finished. Photos exaggerate the beaded fringe and I ned to see how it looks when the first half is complete.
