Thank you, thank you for this! I am pleased to see that art versus science is a perennial debate as I rather feel like a voice in the wilderness at times. I perceive my professors do not believe science is all there is to psychology either, as their occasional microexpressions give the game away. That being said, I acknowledge logic and reason and all that has its place. Yes, I understand the importance of being able to read and write scholarly works. Yes, I understand the desire to try to understand people through experiments/correlation studies. Yes, I even understand assessing validity and reliability of treatment methodology. Still, at the end of the day, intuition and perception and soul to soul connection (with sufficient self-knowledge to keep a careful eye on one's complexes and countertransference) is what heals.
