I think Sophie's "problem" is that she is incredibly intelligent. Why is that a problem? In my opinion, adolescents that are extremely intelligent often have "issues", or professionals seem to think they do. My son was diagnosed at age 16 with schizoid personality disorder. I requested that the neuropsych remove that from his report, and she complied with my request. He is a very intelligent teenager based on lots of testing, he has social issues, and most people don't understand him. I was happy to see that Sophie opened up in therapy and was able to benefit from it. I wish my son was able to do the same. |
