I am not sure exactly what it means but I like the idea that it's just a culturally acceptable way people are expressing their growing consciousness that there is something amiss, that there is something within them that wants to be revealed and seen and understood that has been dissociated. It's a felt unknown and the pharmaceutical industry has done the best job at articulating what that something amiss could be. Of course, there are a myriad of other possibilities. We need more language, more examples of how psychotherapy can be of assistance so that people can have more ways of beginning to explain themselves to themselves.
