Thank you for this informed look at the mid-life transition.
Our culture treats this interesting time in an adult's life as a joke, which annoys me because that attitude denies a person's potential to grow. We're addicted to extended adolescence.
It's hard going through midlife sometimes because there is so little support or even recognition for the process. But I see it as a sacred time of transformation and look forward to what I will become.

Thank you. I plan to write more about mid-life. It is the longest developmental period in life but as you say too often dismissed.

Cheryl--
Those mid-life symptoms certainly sound like they could easily be misdiagnosed as bipolar disorder...I wonder how many of the alarmingly high number of people now being diagnosed and medicated are suffering from a crisis of Self rather than a "mental illness."
Love your blog! You make a lot of sense.
Peace,

Oh goodness, given how wide the net cast for bi-polar disorder is these days, what couldn't be considered due to it?!
Crisis of Self -- much better way to think about it. I'll steal that one!
Thanks for reading - and commenting!
