Are these great final episodes, or what?
i think in addition to the writers needing to have Melfi abandon Tony and leave him without any support, it's important to Chase that nobody leaves the story with clean hands.
My response to the dinner party was shock that it was so unprofessional. i was gasping - i just didn't expect it at all. The whole setup was like an intervention, right down to Melfi's defensive reaction. But it had been telegraphed by Elliott's obvious envy of Melfi's "Leadbelly". Bogdonovich deserves some praise for his portrayal in these episodes, i think. Like Robert Iler as A.J., he's really exceeded our expectations in this season.
