Older, white and female -- when women are mature and respected for their wisdom. A patient, multi-faceted, earthy wisdom that usually doesn't fit with today's simplistic, object-oriented societal values.
The world-weary part of me tires of "the patriarchy" (generalization used solely to shorten the length of my comment) quashing anything that grows naturally. Cut down those trees, bulldoze that marsh, level that lawn, drill that oil field, polar bears aren't endangered -- silence those women and their rich, variegated character earned by living their own lives. We only want projection screens like Sarah Palin. It's so much easier, so much simpler, so much less frightening, because that way we don't have to face the damp twilight of our doubts and uncertainties...

(it's not clear from my comment -- "we" is supposed to be the "we" of patriarchy, not everyone.)
And why white women? Because women of color are already set aside/ignored in other ways...
