Great write up! It is too bad that people didn't see the genious behind Ainge before the Waler trade. The sheer talent level of his draft picks, and signings have really led this team's turn around. Walker may be the icing on the cake, or he may be playing for a contract, or he is getting Blount less minutes and spreading the defense out to give everyone a one on one situation; or a combination of all of those. Either way, we are a team no one wants to play right now. And that is a good thing.
As for OB.... I can't say I hated him that much. I am glad he is gone, but he seemed like a nice person, and had the players respect. They obviously know more about him than I would so I will base my opinion off that. As for his run in Philly, well it would not shock anyone to see that come to an end real soon.

I don't think Ainge will bolt this summer, maybe next, but not this one. I too have enjoyed watching OB get his comeupponce (sp?) and I hope we can have Dr. Jack do the Sixers/Celts game in two weeks just so I can rain explitives upon his head. Ricky was a great trade, anyone who knows hoops felt this way from the beginning (sorry Peter May, you've been disqualified long ago.).
Why would Ainge want to trade a very productive player like Paul Pierce especially when he's in his prime? He's mature, knows the league, gets a ton of calls, plays within the system, plays good defense, rebounds, passes, doesn't dominate the ball. you are not going to get a player as productive as Pierce anytime soon, he'll get what he can out of him and let him walk.

“Then Pierce clarified his statement, saying it was the younger players he worried might focus too much on the streak and not enough on what needs to be done before the playoffs.”
This is why, he’s a dick. Why is he always down on the young 5? Worry about yourself, prick, and let “Toine worry about the team – that’s how you prefer it.

Great post, Dr.
It is a hard sell to convince those PP/AW fans that the bigger picture is in jeopardy during such a gaudy winning streak.
Question: how much weight does Walker gain this summer after he signs a new contract?

Toine and Pierce have the same off season regiment.... Krispy Kreme and Guiness. They both have talent, but imagine how good they could be if they came to camp cut up and ready to roll.

Willie, you know your mom's place doesn't have internet access, hahaha.
Next year? If we give ‘Tone an unmovable 4 year deal, with an utterly uninspiring Pierce and a weak-kneed Raef (who I like), and we’re in for a long few years while our promising 5 wallow on the pine.

The thing is with this team playing at its absolute best, could we beat San Antonio in a seven game series? The answer for me at least is no. That means we're locked in with personel that is never going to be good enough to win a championship.

San Antonio has to get through the West. And they're one injury away ( Duncan ) from being dead meat. Conversely, we can survive an unjury to one of our players, with so many interchangeable parts. We need to take 'em one at a time, anyway.

We are looking at Detroit in the second round. I would concentrate there first. Prevailing thoughts are they are going to roll over and play dead when we show up. Unfortunately, they won't. These fellas didn't win a championship last year because they suck, and they have only gotten better since then. It doesn't mean that can't beat them, it just means that before looking at San Ant, or PHX, or even the Heat, Detroit is on our screen.

C'mon, I'd love to buy into the Ainge's vision, 'where nothing but 17 will do', but do the fans really want to see 4 years of lottery land to get those impact players? Besides Al Jefferson, the rest of the young guys are no potential all stars. TA could come close, but undersized 2 don't last long in the league unless they shoot like Ray Allen, or Redd.
I think Ainge is just buying time with the owners and the fans. He's on the right track, and the owners will be off his back so he can come up with a real plan. Ainge could trade Banks and Tony Allen, plus a pick for perhaps a top 3 pick. No team in history has ever won a championship without a top five pick on the roster.
Then again, GMs more often lose out trying to trade a proven player for an unknown. Glad we have Danny instead of the GM over in Cleveland. Talk about the worse GM ever. JR Bremmer. 8th pick Diop, Welch, EW and Battie, he's worse than Pitino. Get Lebron some help!!

RickyD, I agree there's more pressing concerns, and I doubt we can take the Heat in 7. I'm just thinking even beyond that, like for the next 4 years, do we really have the kind of talent that could take us over the top? We'll be locked up salary wise and locked in at the 2/3/4/5, and I don't see any 1's out there that we'll be able to get cheap who'll make a difference. But yr right, first things first...

It is going to be an exciting road either way, an we will make some noise on the way there. Hopefully trading cap will work, or maybe if the rooks don't get to showcase too much we can sign them for cheap and when they are ready to go we can have them locked up (okay, that is a little bit on the conspiracy theory side).

Ya gotta admit, Danny took two big shits when he dumped Waltuh and Jiri, who are both playing even worse than they did with the C's. Fuck those whiny assholes, Danny should be voted GM of the year just for defecating both of those overpayed pieces of human excrement out of our collective assholes.

When we finally exercise the pick we got in the Waltah trade we should just draft a bag of shit. And then, of course, put the #0 on the bag.

McCarty should have worn a higher number, since all he'll be remembered for is his stat line of zeros.
My prediction tonight is that Starbury will make Banks look like NBDL material. Celts will win of course, so Perk can play the whole second half.
They really should have an award for the worst GM. Danny would have won GM of the year, last year for helping out Detroit.

OKay, we got fucked last night hard. That was the worst performance by everyone on the team in a long time. And I am using the term "team" very loosely. Doc and PO you guys have plenty of fodder for today's posting.

"As it stands, there is no chance (zero, zilch, nada) that he doesn’t get at least a four year $40 million deal from the Celtics over the summer, which should serve as a savage example to fans of both “caveat emptor” (buyer beware) and “the emperor has no clothes.”
Nice call asshat.
