The ace bandage over his face was pretty pathetic. I still don't think I have gotten over that. He and Toine had a good laugh over it, but really incase no one realized it, the refs also watch tv. They don't like being made fun of anymore than you or I. Which is probably why we got even less calls in the latter games.

We did have some great pick ups and can still sign my favorite (albeit a major headcase) Gilchrist, and even the "sharp shooting" Saras.

Pierce is the problem. Like the refs, Pierce also watches tv, and listens to the radio. He hears all this bullshit about him being traded for Van Exel's expiring contract, or for a pick or a carton of pork fried rice. This has to piss him off. Now regardless of if we wanted to trade him, we just might HAVE to, because a disgruntled Pierce is even worse for the club than one with gauze wrapped around his face.

yr right RickyD, this whole Pierce thing is turning into a self fullfilling prophecy - trade talk will make him more disgruntled and add to Ainge's desire to trade him. Pierce's problem is that he's not good enough to be The Man but in a talent vacuum he thinks he is. He'll be a valuable addition to some team on-the-cusp when he's 32 and just looking to win. Pierce for Maggette!!!

PO, I'm not sure you can say GG is ready to contribute now, but yr point is well made about the need for vets.

Contribute meaning in the rotation.

Nice to hear from you RDfan.

ainge will only trade to add value, he's not going to compromise what he's building because of someone's attitude. Pierce has NEVER laid down on the job though, he's done some weird things, but he is never hurt and pretty much plays hard. If he can just accept things, and having some guys that have been around the league and are still young will help, then they'll be fine.

ps. the knick game in the Garden was the turning point for me with their attitude, they were freaking disgusting that night and Pierce especially. They need a shitkicker extrodanaire. But who?

and hackrid still licks the sweaty balls of tree rollins.

Welcome back willie.

I think Pierce compromises what Danny is building. That's why he's out.

Pierce also isn't a kid anymore. It's sad to say but at 29, Pierce is somewhat of a senior citizen in this league. He has probably had his most athletic years already, and may not be able to keep up in the new run and gun system (as was evident at time last year when he couldn't run up the court).

His talent is undeniable, but so is his age. Going young and staying together has become much more important in this league. Looking at the Spurs, they have a very young starting core and vets around them. It seemed to work out alright for them this season.

good points rickyD and PO. Is he really 29? gees! He's probably at the tail of his prime, he can't take over a game completely anymore and couldn't get past a depleted Pacer team (although he wasn't to blame). Imagine if Artest had suited up for that series?

welcome back Willie. We need more Tampon Walker jokes.

Artest in that series would have meant a sweep. Pierce is Artest's bitch, Andre Iguodala's bitch, Lebron's bitch, any double team's bitch, a running game's bitch, PO's bitch...

I keep trying to post on this and it won't take, so here's another shot. If like 15 of the same post show up later in the day, don't make fun of me.

Anyway, good to have you back Willie. We need more Tampon Walker jokes.

Artest in the Indiana series would have meant a sweep. Pierce is Artest's bitch, Andre Iguadala's bitch, Lebron's bitch, any double team's bitch, a running game's bitch, PO's bitch...

Gravatar Payton's gotta go, Antoine "Did I miss another bunny?" has to go, Pierce either needs to go or have a mid-life correction. Let's not be the number one trash talking team in the league, let's play some smart, team oriented ball.

Gravatar After all that talk about but fucking and sweaty balls, I,m going out to a bar and ask someone to push in my stool.

Gravatar hey rick, go to celticsblog, they'll hook you up.

Gravatar Don't forget that Pierce is an old 29, he's taken a beating the last several years.

Gravatar hey Rick, remember - you're not gay, it's the guy behind you

Gravatar Interesting thoughts. Artest would have made that series so lopsided that it wouldn't have even been fun to watch. This is a major issue, especially because Artest and Pierce play in the smae position and Artest's salary is roughly 8 million less than Pierce's. Clearly Artest is the better value. When there are players like that available on the market it is hard to picture Pierce being taken over him.

Gravatar The news today about Danny having turned down a Pierce for Maggette deal is disheartening. Maggette is a low budget version of PP who would have been a nice role model for the young dudes. He could have been a star without needing to dominate the team. Very disappointing.

Gravatar With Green on board, Pierce can be traded, but you better get more than Maggette for him. (like ditching Raef's contract and getting picks)

Signing Toine might not be too bad, since I could see him coming off the bench. Plus he's not gonna get much more then the MLE. And for the MLE, there's not much out there that would be worth the money. Gotta trade the asswipe Blount. "Ow, my McCarty head band hurts"

Gravatar Oh, and I forgot, I love the Bandage look. I like Pierce more now, that I know he's nuts. Crazy MoFo, foaming at the mouth Pierce. No beer and TV make Pierce go something , something?
