Justin Reed looks like the man out there, whipping all those NBA wannabes. He's obviously way better than any of those guys who'll never make it to a training camp. Delonte really shows he can run a team without an assist. Gerald Green is a lock for the slam dunk champion. Too bad his career will mirror Dominique Wilkens with all flash and no ring. In turn this make Tony Allen totally expendable, and probably Ricky Davis whom both cost more, and have the same game. Perkins dominating as ever. He's really showing he belongs in the league. He's even better than Mark Blount a few years back. Oh wait, that was what was expected...not really what's going on.

Scalabrine is not a horrible pick up. He is a solid guy that can rebound, he won't win you a game but he won't lose it either.
Reed and Pierce would be one hell of a fight. Reed would kick his ass! The kid works out, and is in good shape (as opposed to PP and 'Toine who have the same off season training regiment as Dom DeLuise). Reed is hungry, he has to get more comfortable on the court though. When he was in last season he looked scared. He wouldn't take open looks and didn't use his size to really move people. If he steps it up and plays at the level he is capable of he might serious impact this team one day. Keep in mind he was one of the best shooters in college ball. The ball and the basket haven't changed since then, he just needs to remember that if he shoots, he will score (ironically 'Toine chants that all day long).
Reed has the genuine toughness that the C's need, not the Angry Weirdo routine of PP or the "Getting Kicked Out of Games Means I'm Tough" nonsense that Kendrick Perkins often succumbs to.

This is an epiphany for me, because I have always been a fan of adding veterans but looking around the league 4 of the ten best players are 2nd year guys (okay, that's a little stretch). But fuck it. We can not win a championship letting Greene start with Jefferson & the rest of the kids just as well as we can with Pierce, Raef, Walker and GP. So fuck it. We'll save a shitload of money and be able to watch better basketball.

Those kids tore it up again tonight. Over 100 points in summer league... Not too shabby for a group of kids who mostly can't buy beer (legally).
NJ got a little scary as of late, and an addition of Reef would all but make them a lock for the division title. If Philly can get the older guys to play nice with the younger guys, and Webber buys into their system, they beat us easily in the division too. NY is still crap, but if we are in the middle of the division we can kiss those playoffs goodbye. Pierce isn't going to get us there alone, so either Danny pulls a trade Tony Allen and Kendrick Perkins for Shaq and Wade out of his ass, or we just have fun watching them develop.
You can give me shit for the Philly comment, but AI was the most complete player in the league (maybe LeBron), and if Iguodala and Dalembert get better this season, and Webber just plays like he can, they could contend. Even with his princess attitude Webber is still one nasty fucking basketball player. A healthy Webber is still a top 20 player in the league.
you guys are on crack if you think Reed is going to anywhere near the player Pierce is. Calm down on Reed, he's a serviceable bench player making no money.
I don't think anyone is saying Reed has anywhere near the talent of Pierce. I'm not even sure he cracks the rotation.
The point is, he is the type of role player the C's need - making no money.
Without Pierce, Toine, and Payton, they'll still be better than most of the NBDL teams out there - 29th in the league. Whoo hoo, sign me up for season tickets, cuz it's clobberin time. Draftlottery here we come.
