Mmmm.... Whiskey. We aren't going to be that bad either. We have a shitload of raw talent, some of which has had a year or two to mature. We also have our two most consistent scorers still on the team with Ricky and Paul (assuming Paul stays), who are also good defenders when they feel like playing. Raef can hit the 3 ball as good as Toine, if not better and he can get boards too. If Perkins takes his head out of his ass long enough to realize 6 fouls is five too many, and Al Jefferson even progresses a little bit, we are going to fill up the rebounding and scoring needs. We have the production as we did last year after the all star break, got younger and have a lot more upside.

6 fouls is fine with me as long as there are no layups. Walker might have well just dunked the ball for the other team his defense was so bad.

The Heat really aren't concerned about 2 years. They want to win this thing NOW. They might actually be able to pull it off. If Toine gets his head out of his ass, and Jay gets his shit together, than they might be able to do it. Wade and Shaq make up the best combo in the league, I can't think of anything more motivational than playing with the two of them. However, to win the other guys have to understand that Shaq and Wade while much older and much younger are much much better. They are both top ten players in the league, and I still stand by that if they were both healthy they would have beat the Pistons and beat the Spurs.
Also, Shaq is the only guy I know who called back after getting a contract and renegotiated it lower to give the team more flexibility. Kudos to Shaq!

Good point Ricky D, Shaq is all about winning, I think people forget that sometimes. Didn't Garnett do something kind of similar when he got his new contract? Or was that just because the new rules made him take a pay cut. Can't remember.
Anyway, I wish that all Miami had done was get Toine (instead of him and JWill) because then we'd be able to determine his impact more accurately. I think Toine's going to have a hard time meshing, but if the Heat struggle it could be because of both of them or one of them or neither. Either way, they'll still kick our ass, but does it make them good enough to win the East? We'll see.
Another real litmus test of the east will be the way the Piston's react under Flip. Was it Larry Brown winning the championships? Or was it the talented and underrated players? If it was Larry, the Heat might be more of a lock than people give them credit for. The Pacers lost a very VERY important part of their team that Saras isn't going to fill. Reggie is an icon. A cocksucker to other teams, but an icon in the league and especially in the Pacers organization. That alone could keep them out of the top slot. They also have to play Detroit, Cleveland and Chicago to get out of their division. It is going to one tough fucking year for those guys. LeBron isn't getting worse as he approaches 21.
What are you guys saying? That maybe these front runner teams aren't as good as they seem? Do the Celtics have a chance to make some noise this year? I'm not sure it's time to award the conference championship to Miami, Indy, or Detroit just yet. We'll be young, but we'll be very athletic, and if we can play defense, who knows? Put some whiskey in my kool aid, quick.
