Awesome perspective... The Blount thing is great. I am not sure anyone in the league is dumb enough to trade for him. Do they really think he can play anymore? Doubtful... Especially not trading Boozer for him. At least Boozer puts up points and gets boards (and scares children, he is freaking ugly). Blount does none of those things. He gets picked on by little kids and couldn't get a board at home depot.
I too wouldn't trade Banks unless there was something worthwhile coming back.

I'm thinking more and more that we've pretty much got the team in place for this season. Big question is Pierce and Blount's attitude, that is more worrisome than the young uns.

If Blount acts up, we could stick in the Yogi spot. Two rows back in street clothes for the rest of his career. It would be a big waste of money, but at least we won't have to see him sulking on the floor all day long.

thanks RickyD. Who'd have thought last year we'd all be defending Marcus Banks?
I think Blount needs to recast himself as the Pervis Ellison of this generation. The grotesquely overpaid 12th man who becomes the quirkiest weirdo in the NBA just so the fans have less ability to hate him. If I'm Mark Bartelstein, I'm telling Blount to grow mammoth dreads and buy a racehorse with Rick Pitino. Seriously.

I agree about Banks. With Pierce (hopefully) gone, I'm going to need a new target.
Looks like Banks may turn out to be not as good as some thought, and not as bad some thought.

I'm looking at some of the signings going on in the league, and I don't think we'd want any of those players. We're deep, especially at the 2,3, and 4 spots. If we run and play aggressive D, who in the East could keep up with us?

Hmm... Toughy, I'll give it a shot though.
Detroit - best defensive team in the East, hands down.
Miami - Two of the ten best players in the league, a bench full of (older) all-stars, more talent than the C's have had since 86, and two of the better basketball minds in the biz leading them
Indiana - Saras fills Reggie's shoes, Artest is a fucking stud when he is playing, O'Neil's shoulder is all better, and the rest of the team can shoot the fucking lights outs every night
Chicago - Killin' it last year with young talent. Everybody stayed and the team has gotten better and built more chemistry
New Jersey - Kidd is old but still sees the court better than anybody in the game, RJ is fast and top wing, Showtime is exactly that, but if he wants to win no one can stop Vinsanity, with a healthy 'Reef, these guys take the division
Cleveland - LeBron is really the king. The guys they have added will continue to better the team, but it is still a one man show, unfortunately for us, that one man show is quite possibly the best player to step on the court EVER. He will win more games this year than last
Philly - Okay, getting thin, but Iguodala and Dalembert were playing like stars in some game last year, if they mature and AI and C.Webb play nice, they destroy us and most of their competition
I still like our chances on any given night, but come the end of the season, look for Motown, Miami and Indy to once again have the best records. We might make the playoffs, maybe on a long shot win the div, but clearly we won't be the class in the East for another few years.

Nice job RDfan, you can also make an argument that Orlando, Washington, Milwaukee, and, gulp, New York can keep up with us next year. Ouch.
Totally agree with you that Det, Miami and Indiana are the class of the conference.

great analysis RickyD, I think yr dead on. I'd put Washington over us too. If we go into the season with today's lineup, I think we're lottery bound. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. Year three of AJ/TA/DW is when they should start paying off, IMHO.

Thanks guys! Sorry Whassup, that wasn't meant to rain on your parade. We are only an injury, meltdown or barfight away from taking out anyone of those teams...

Wishing for all three and much more to our opponents. Year three is a way's off, good Doctor, but if AJ and Green turn out special, and some of the others step up, it could be worth the wait. Thank God we've gotten rid of a lot of the junk Ainge inherited.

Fuck yeah whassup. The overall talent level, athleticism, and potential of this squad dwarfs the absolute shit handed to Danny.

that's the thing, ultimately, is how well has Danny improved the roster he inherited. He's done a great job in a very little time, and has shown that he's shooting for excellence rather than mere improvement. Unfortunately, w/o a Duncan or LeBron type franchise player it's going to take lots of time.

According to some, Green was the next Lebron prior to summer camp, but now he’s the next Kedrick. After one good puff piece from the Globe during training camp, he’ll be the next Lebron again. But then he’ll struggle in preseason and start the year in Development, and he’ll be Kedrick again. And then he’ll tear it up in the ‘minors’ and play very well in spare minutes with the big boys, and by the end of the season he’ll be Lebron again.
I love consistency.

I also love how Danny gets called a genius for drafting a guy that slipped 15 spots. If he doesn't turn into a player is Ainge going to then be called a big idiot?

Probably... They will all say he should have traded the pick, or got someone else with #18. Funny though the guys who picked 35 players ahead of Boozer are all now trying to trade for him. Similar to the NBA scouts that told Arenas he would play 0 minutes in the league (hence his number). Not to mention the infinite wisdom of drafting Darko over Wade.
Drafting well is very challenging. Danny did well the past two years, hopefully this year turns out to be solid as well.
