Dickau makes sense for a lot of reasons. First and foremost is that if you trade Pierce, you NEED to replace his offense. No one is going to give us a top seven scorer for him, so we need to get it else where. Dickau is a scorer. He is good for 12 points a game and few dimes. Now instead of bringing in a guy who needs to score 25 to replace the offense, you can bring in a guy who grabs 14 boards and scores 16 from trading Pierce and you have a net positive.
I am not advocating one way or the other for a Pierce trade, or for anyone else to be traded. I just can't imagine where 18 guys are going to find playing time on this roster. Especially 18 guys who all think they should be starters.
As for Scalabrine... I have no fucking idea who this guy is. What a waste. They would have been better off giving that money to a children's fund than to him. Our bench is full, we don't need another Yogi hanging out on it. He is embarrassing...
Either way, Danny just needs to make some fucking trades and get it over with. Either we keep Banks and Pierce or we don't, but we've got to do something.

sorry Willie, we're still on the trade Pierce thing, if only to refute those who speak the gospel of the PER stat. haha.
rickyd, you articulated much better than I did the concern about having these 18 guys who all want to play and who, (atleast IMO) are pretty much around the same level of talent/accomplishment. I'd trade Pierce simply to clear time at the 2/3 and let the young guys fight it out. I doubt any of them will end up being as good as PP circa 2001, but if we can instill a more workable team offense with PP gone, that's called progress. Otherwise, there really is no point to trading him.

Exactly! I also think you can win without a "superstar". I would take 5 blue collar guys to grit and grind every night over some "stars" in the league. We've just got to figure out who is the future and who is not getting there contract renewed. Green, Greene, Gomes, Jeff, et al can't prove a thing unless their on the court.
What is the average age of our team now anyway? It has got to be getting down to the youngest in the league.

It's got to be either us or like Atlanta. Even our vets are fairly young, I keep forgetting that Raef isn't even 30 yet.
My wish for this year is simply to see who is the real deal, and who we don't need to give a shit about. Reed is a good example - we keep hearing about how great he is in practice, he had that awesome defensive display against Kobe, and he seems to be able to play. But is he a poor man's Artest or quasi-Bowen or just a taller Erick Strickland? We won't find out, as you point out, unless he plays.

Agreed,Doctor Chestnutt. We've got that loaded word 'potential' either as a starter or #1 back-up at every position. Time to shit or get off the pot. I'm just glad we've flushed the toilet and gotten rid of the crap we had? ( Has Waltuh found a team yet )?

I seriously had a nightmare a few weeks ago that Waltah re-signed with the Celtics.
I can't wait until he plays against us this year (for whatever team) and has his one good game of the season against us, and like breaks Gerald Green's hand or something in the process. Just to prove he's a fucking curse.

I would doubt Walter signs anywhere... He is probably done. Hopefully every game goes into triple overtime so there will be enough minutes to spread around. Without that we might as well just shoot dice...

Yeah... Typically you don't tell someone that they are a suspect if you don't have them in custody yet.
My take on this is TA WB and the yet unnamed player got it on with some playa (in a different game) from Chicago because only so many young rich kids can hang out in the same bar. He may have been a bit tougher than the boys in green so one of their "associates" handled it for them. Complete speculation at this point but circumstantial evidence is usually telling.
Witnesses put them fighting, and then by reports, 20 minutes to two hours later the guy winds up shot.

Hahaha, RickyD. I know, Bynum was just fodder to cut at camp so everyone who made the team felt like they actually beat someone out. Granted TA isn't the second coming, but I'd hate to see his trade value completely undercut by a conspiracy to commit murder charge. I've been thinking basketball-wise he's a taller Eric Strickland with more hops and less brains.

Problems with the law are pretty concerning too. The Herald is reporting him as fingered by the victim. Probably not how Will bynum thought he would celebrate his contract. Although, Ricky looks a lot more like a starter right now....

get rid of him outright. he's not that good anyway, cut the fucker. any asshole that is stupid enough to be involved in something like this should just have his ties with the team cut. i can't think of anything more stupid than being young and rich and then destroying it all because someone came after you.
al jefferson, perkins, and green would never be dumb enough to involve themselves in something like this and they are fucking 19 years old.
we shouldn't jump to conclusions and he's presumed innocent of course but the idea that he's involved in this crap is just pathetic.

CDers Happy Labor Day,
Thanks for a great comments section and Thank God for some honest dialogue on Tony Allen, who seems to have slipped under the radar in the Boston Papers, WEEI, and places on the Internet like the Celtics Stuff Group, which I generally like; and the Celtics Blog, of course, is a lost cause on the issue along with Real GM and their anal-retentive Celtics moderators.
As already noted, if this was a Red Sox or Patriots player, the shit would have hit the fan big and hard: no ducking out of the way - lots of splattering - full back cover Herald and Front Page Globe coverage.
But since he's a member of the lowly Celtics, there's minimal interest in his story, which probably makes Danny, Wyc, and Trust Fund Steve quite happy, though I suspect third-stringer Shira will probably be or already has been dispatched to the Windy City by the Globe, and the ever sockless Bulpett might do a piece on Tony, if the Herald remembers they have a Basketball section.

If you want to know what the biggest problem with the Celtics is, it's that they lack anyone at the level of a Duncan, Garnett, Kobe, LeBron,
Iverson, Kidd, Nash etc. and until they get one of those guys (which Pierce and Jefferson are not), they're really screwed.
People cite Detroit as an example of TEAM, rather than individual players winning the Title, but Detroit still had the first or second best defensive presence in the league in Wallace, and Larry Brown
was and is a freaking coaching genius,
which is why Knick fans should be very happy. The Knicks have less talent than the C's, but a big coaching disparity between Rivers and Brown.
And I'd offer Pierce and Jefferson for Garnett (and not lose any sleep over it) and hope that Green can be a shorter quicker dumber Rashard Lewis.
And BTW Gomes was a great pick by Ainge - I think he'll put up Al Harrington numbers in time, like 14 or 15 and 7.

Thanks for the comments Ray. It happens so much, and yet evertime I find myself saying, how can -fill in name- waste so much athletic talent by -fill in transgretion-.
You're right about the media coverage. Even if it was one of the Sox high minor leaguers, like Hanley, the papers would be going nuts.

Any attempt to improve Celtsblog has to start with getting rid of everyone not named Kahn. I saw that Jeff thinks the guy who was shot is out for a money grab – like he wanted to get fucking shot. What an idiot.
