If we pay, I wonder if Willie and I would be reinstated?

Excellent piece. I love how you characterize Kool Aid drinker’s thoughts on him – they are totally conflicted. Those are great stats for a second year guard, solid, if unspectacular.

Good thing my hand bones are stronger than Delonte’s, or I’d be in trouble.

thanks PO. I think I was displacing a fear I have for my own hands onto Delonte's life. Poor bastard. Next up, Ricky Davis, correct?

I'm right here... Good post. I don't like Delonte at all though, and I would be willing to bet at the end of his contract he isn't getting signed anywhere. He is to small, to frail and just not that good on the court. I would rather have a 6'6" point guard, or even an AI type player than West.

PO is reviewing you tomorrow Ricky D!

Yeah, Delonte could easily be a beloved assistant coach in six years, but I think he'll stick around past his first contract. The frailty issue is one that could derail him quicker though, yr right. I like how he plays and I like him better than Banks (because he understands the game better), but he's not the incredible steal at 23 (right? or was it 24?) that some people like to portray him as.

Gravatar West will be good for 20-25mpg and play both the 1 and the 2. He's not a true point guard, and the Dickau signing shows that not even the top brass thinks so. I'd like to hear more about Orien Greene, whose workout against Saras was the reason we didn't break the bank to get him. A 6"5' pg would be a great addition.

Gravatar yeah, Orien seems to be perpetually beneath the radar. Everyone seems to think he's going to the NBDL, but I wonder if there's any chance he gets cut. That deal wasn't guarenteed for three years. Too bad if he goes without even a chance to see what he's capable of.

Gravatar Dr.C.,
For a PG himself Ainge has made two big mistakes at the point. One was not taking Ridnour over Banks, which
I said at the time, and the second mistake was dealing for Walker instead of Davis. So, they would have had to give up Tony Allen in the deal. So?

Ainge's biggest problem with the Celtics as they're currently constructed is they lack a impact player at either C or PG. Add that
to the fact that there's no Garnett, Duncan, Kobe, Kidd, Nash, etc. around and you have a perennial mediocre team.

If Ainge wants to change things,
he's probably going to have put the Celtics in position for a High Lottery
Pick and take the Best PG out of the
Rondo - Gibson - Sergio Rodriguez
trio. They're certainly ain't no Impact Centers in the upcoming draft.

And trading for an Impact Player, well let's see:

Shaq - Ha

Duncan - Ha

Garnet - Pierce and Jefferson might tempt Minnesota.

Kidd - Ha

Stoudamire - Ha

Iverson - Too much of a money-maker for Philly.

Kobe - Ha

Lebron - Ha

Nash - Ha

Wade - Ha

Trading For An Impact Center

Shaq, Duncan, Wallace, Ming,
Dalembert, Miller - Nyet

Magloire - Perhaps

Trading for an Impact PG

Nash, Kidd, Davis, Marbury, Iverson,
Paul, Telfair, Livingston, Bibby - Nyet

It seems like a High Lottery Pick in the draft is Ainge's only way to go.

Gravatar We need to root for Cleveland to become a lottery team. I think we get their #1 from the Jiri trade.

Gravatar Ray, that's why the Pierce for a-pick-that-would-be-Chris-Paul trade made a lot of sense to me and PO when it was being floated around. At least Danny seems to covet the same players we all think would make a difference, but that's not the same as adding them to yr roster. I guess one of the strategies is to pile up enough tradeable pieces and pray that one of the difference-makers in the league gets disgruntled and demands a trade. Kind of like Kenny Anderson except it'd be a good player.

I actually didn't like the Baron Davis trade and I'm glad it didn't happen. I think he and Pierce would have been even more Us Against The World than he and Toine, and his contract is grotesque for a guy with a bad back. Instead of either move he should have stayed pat and kept the pick.

Gravatar It's amazing that WOTR could have claimed he wanted Ridanour drafted by Ainge in 2003.

Why you may ask? Because Ridanour was drafted before the Celtics even had a pick. Incredible.

I guess Ainge should have somehow taken a player that had already been drafted eh?

And you claim that you stated this at the time of the draft?

Maybe you should pay a little bit more attention.

Gravatar No, Ridnour was taken 14 after Banks
at 13 by Memphis, so Ainge could
have had West draft Ridnour for him instead of Banks that year. He or Papile or Wallace wanted Banks, in a move eerily reminiscent of the Kedrick Brown selection: Great Athlete, other parts of the game missing.

Charlie Rosen/Fox Sports has a dissecting look at the Celtics
and the Atlantic Division,
more vicious than either Dr. C.
or PO, so well worth the look.

Gravatar dude. your fucked i'm sorry, you have no clue what you are talking about. things don't work like your current fanatasies about Ridanour where you fudgepack history now that you know that he's a good player.

the draft isn't just a-b-c-d etc. There are deals and promises made before the whole thing goes down, it's called negotiating. Oliver and the Seattle saw alot in Ridanour so they drafted him. Celtics fans should be happy that Ainge was able to get something from that crap draft.

Now that history has proven Seattle correct and now that you see Ridanour taken after Banks and say 'hey we should have drafted that guy!' even though they didn't have a pick with which to do that. The deal wasn't Banks for Troy Bell, it was Banks and Perkins for Bell and Jones.

Ainge flopped shit picks for two guys that are decent and now you say he should have told Jerry West to take someone else? If you want to say the Grizzlies fucked up by not taken Ridanour then fine, don't construct fantasy trades with players that were never in the mix though. It's total bullshit.

btw/ there is no comparison of Banks to Brown. Banks can dribble, penetrate, and at times pass the ball. Brown can/could run and jump.

Gravatar in fairness, Brown also can/could eat a lot of food.

If we're having a war over Banks/Ridenour, imagine what Bucks fans are going to be saying in 3 years when Chris Paul is an all star and Bogut is still Bogut.

Gravatar no shit. Bogut=BUST.

Gravatar Bust-gut

The usual suspects are taking the usual stances re: the Rosen article, so I hate to enter the fray, but I disagree with CBlog calling it a "shock jock" piece. It was excessively harsh on Ricky, but the bottom line was accurate. The Celtics are going to struggle like hell and it'll be a season of assesing what can happen for us in the future.

Gravatar Rosen's pretty harsh on all the Atlantic teams, and more realistic than not.

Gravatar fuck you all delonte west is the best celtics player and the best looking. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIT HE DOESNT NOT HAVE HERPES FUCKING IDIOT. ITS CALLED A BiiiRTHMARKK.
