Excellent! Even the worst prediction isn't awful for a second year player... I still don't think he is going to get too many minutes, especially not with the "depth" at power forward. The "depth" is also a lot of money on the payroll. Regardless of which GM you are, you aren't going to be able to sit $30 million of healthy players on the bench for the season in favor of Al and Perk (combined salary $1.5 million??). If he gets 20 minutes pg I would be surprised.

yeah, exactly. There's going to be a big push I would think to get their money's worth for Blount, and that'll come at the expense (so to speak) of playing time for AJ and Perk. 12/6 are actually probably VERY optimistic

Blount's already contributing. Big Al stepped on his foot and sprained his ankle. We're off to a great start.

Dr. C., other distinguished commentators,
Interesting preview. I think he's similar to Randolph minus the injury and criminal charges. He's very much a low post specialist, certainly not the second coming of McHale, though.
The team still needs an Impact Guy
better than Pierce or Jefferson.
Hey, did you see where Stoudamire has knee problems and may have to have surgery? Perhaps a place for Blount, if Stoudamire's out for a long while. They have the Joe Johnson TE, so no Cap problems in taking Mr. Continental. They could use him at Center, move Thomas to PF, and Marion to SF.
Any ways a few more convenient injuries upon other clubs big men and Blount gets moved out much faster.
And Banks Dr. C. - 2nd rounder from whom for him? Toronto?

I don't know what Jefferson is going to do this year, but at least he gives us hope. It's been a long, long time since the C's have had an All-Star low post player (Antoine doesn't fit my definition). At least one is a requirement for a championship team (unless you have Michael Jordan on your team).

I agree dingle, having a low post presence with good post instincts is a wonderful thing.

Rivers Wants Pierce Gone
Peter Vescey
NY Post - Sunday, October 9, 2005
Paul Pierce pledged allegiance to Boston last week, swearing that he wants to retire a Celtic. That leaves Doc Rivers, as Meat Loaf would say, praying for the end of time so he can end his time with him. During the off-season, Rivers pushed boss Danny Ainge hard to trade his deflated franchise player, but legit discussions with the Nuggets involving Andre Miller and Nene and third teams (both players never were going to Boston, only one) proved infertile. Prior to the draft the Blazers rejected Pierce ($45M over three) on a platter for the No. 6 pick and an irrelevant overpaid player or two. Despite Pierce's everlasting pronouncement, it's believed he'll be shopped 'til Rivers drops.

Portland turned down Paul Pierce for Martell Webster. If they want to win now, that doesn't seem like a good move. Who would we have taken with the 6th pick?

I don't doubt that Pierce was shopped but no way in hell Portland turns that deal down.

can you run a contest like this for celticsdoom members?
From Wyc;
Jeff, I have a pair of club tickets for either our Memphis, Seattle or Orlando game for a CelticsBlog member who correctly predicts our Tuesday night starting lineup. If several people get it right, you can do a drawing. If you organize the contest and make any required rulings, I will provide the tickets.
If there is any doubt that Celticsblog is a front office shill or mouthpiece this should put the doubts to rest.

Also, someone named ForeverGreen32 is about to get in trouble on Celticsblog. He writes "Vecsey is a professional sports writer who works for a major news publication. You run a blog that, for the most part, links to articles about the Boston Celtics written by other people. When you say nobody takes Vecsey seriously, it makes me not take you seriously." P0, you better give FG32 a warning.

Pierce for Spmaggetti. Alongside Veal, we'll be a shitty basketball team, but a hell on an entree at an Italian ristorante.

Willie, it would be my dream to one day have Wyc give a free ticket upgrade to anyone wearing a "I got tittie-fucked at CelticsDoom" T-shirt.
catching up from a brutal weekend, but these Spmagetti rumors are interesting. Just in terms of a pissing contest, I could see Doc wanting to still jettison Pierce, just as a "fuck-you" for making his life miserable last year. At least Magette's cheaper.
Every one of you needs to see the movie The Aristocrats. It's a bunch of comedians telling the same sick joke in different ways. Fucking hilarious.

RickyD, I don't think Blount's stats reflect how mediocre he really looked. He still can't rebound.

Blount is always going to be mediocre. If he can contribute even a little bit, like he did last night, we will be able to move him or at least get some value from him.
My dream for the NBA is to make all contracts non-guaranteed like football. If someone doesn't perform, you cut them. Poof! Their gone, no money, no sorry, no cigarette or towel. They are out the door. Think of the ferocity that would come back into the league. Everyone would be fighting for a job every night. It would make the games so much better to watch!
