thanks for the kind words AND the criticisms PO - I've honestly started to take a warm to you based mostly on the good Dr. - just because we have different stlyes doesn't mean we can't be men about this
do I take myself too seriously? - sure, sometimes - but we all get carried away sometimes
am I an attention whore? well, duh! nobody with a site like mine isn't
am I a name-dropping suck up? hmm, gotta admit, it doesn't look good for me here either - I guess I still get star struck sometimes - but I'm learning to tone it down
so I'm learning to laugh at myself a little more and I welcome the parody and recently I've found it fun to come here to deflate my head a bit - so thanks for that
if I've hurt feelings, I too am sorry
and the next time we meet in the grocery store, I'd gladly buy any of you a drink
cheers

see, we can all get along. Thanks for your comments Jeff.
anyway, I think the reason Pierce hasn't been shipped has been a combination of two things 1) no one will take Raef or Blount in a deal that would clear cap space, and 2) Fear of Complete Implosion without him. It strikes me that Wyc, Danny and River's interests are all coliding with each other, thus the inaction.

with Pierce, if the cards fall right then they can make the playoffs every year. Without Pierce they are a lottery team. Being competitve helps the young players get better, having Pierce puts people in the seats. He's here, he'll be good this year, they might be able to surprise some people if Doc can get his rotations in order. Dr's analysis that there is a collision of interest is a very good one... I'll have to think about that a little more.
Sonics-East and a second round playoff exit if Pierce stays and no one substantial gets injured.
Yeah I'm crazy.

I think that's reasonable Willie. It's a best case scenario, definitely, but it's not crazy. There is actually some reason to believe this team can only improve with Toine and Payton gone. It's just that we have such a fucked up frame of reference to judge them on. Last year they looked average, then below average, then got toine and looked amazing for 12 games, then were up and down and finally completely shit the bed. Inconsistency like this points to Doc being a big part of the problem. That's why as much as I have criticized Pierce (and think it'd be wise to ship him out, if only to fully embrace a rebuilding mindset), I think a lot more blame goes to Doc for last year's implosion. But if Doc is in there simply to get the young guys motivated and build for the future, then you can't really blame him either. It's weird.

As you might guess, I am the last poster that would posit the premise that my shit doesn't stink. I'm glad everyone else feels that way too. Let's face it, Big Al needs to become Amare-like in order for us to exceed expectations, and Doc has got to let Kendrick play a hell of a lot more. Dr. Chestnutt, you've become the Dr. Phil of Celtic websites, do you make housecalls. Sometimes my wife thinks her shit doesn't stink.

yeah, we're just a big bunch of happy-asses, aren't we assstnx? I'm Dr. Phil, as in Dr. "Phil up your titties with Celtic Pride."
Good point about Big Al. And the fact that all of our assholes stink. Next time your wife gives you grief, just take a shit somewhere in the house (or her car) and make a game of her finding out where it is. When she finds it say, "I guess you were right, my shit does stink. Isn't it nice to be right all the time?"
I'll try to do something over the weekend but I'm hearing that the games blacked out on cable. So if they are, we'll be back on Monday.

Dr. C., PO, Distinguished Commenters,
Hey, did anyone see today's Boston Herald?
Front Page
The New Face Of The Celtics
Yes, the one and the only,
Ricky Davis!
Bwahahhaha.
Pierce will be gone, like when Walker went, because someone offered something half-way decent in return.
Some one, some team, will crack and trade for Pierce. Maybe Detroit to stay ahead of Miami and Indiana.
Think that Danny wouldn't take a chance on Darko blooming?
But most likely a West Coat team - Why not the Worriers with good buddy Baron D? Andris Biedrins, Murphy, Pietris, Richardson - they have as many quality young players as the C's.

Maybe Indiana. Bird loves Pierce.
Ainge loves Granger.
Artest is acting like a complete A O already.
Pierce would be an Angelic Presence compared to Psycho Ron.
Artest and Granger for Pierce as the main components of a deal.

Blackout - wilie, I read that somewhere, which is totally fucked up if true.
Ray, I've always thought that Ainge would be of the mind to take a chance on Darko. You'd have to think that would be part of a lower-level trade, like Ricky D (who will not be traded) or Tony Allen and Gerald Green. I still think Danny needs to accomplish one of two objectives with a Pierce trade - 1) use Pierce as bait to take Raef's contract and get marginal players with better contracts and picks in return. or 2) dislodge a highly touted young player. If this team starts out 8-22 or something, I think then it'll be a "get whatever the fuck I can for him." Hopefully that will not include Antione Walker.

Dickau was horrible last night, Mike James took him to school. Scalaburine was a little better, nowhere close to Bonner. Our free agent aquisitions this year aren't instilling confidence. We may have gotten tittyfucked.

that's a mighty expensive pearl necklace, but what did Danny expect would come from a Dickau?
I only saw the first half last night, so I missed all the good stuff, but Dickau and Scalaburine looked inept. Orien Greene looked big but kinda clueless. Ricky looked like he will die of exhaustion by January if he has to play point. Pierce looked good again, but his shot wasn't falling. Tommy entered hyper-defensive "these young Celtics are going to be just fine, Mike" mode around 8-2. All this ='s Long season.

Best part - during the pregame show, Dickerson and Max are asking Tommy and Mike some questions. The studio talks up Perk and his development, and sends it to the guys on the floor for their comments, specifically asking about Perk and how he could help the team. Tommy goes into this big 'Blount is back' speach while Mike tries desperately not to laugh.
It was like they had worked out the script before hand, the studio changed the question, but Tommy stayed on script.
With a smirk, Mike sent it back to the guys, who said they were have communication trouble. It was funny.
Second best part was Perk's 3/4 court outlet to Ricky for the jam. I love that shit.
