Funny comments. I think the Washington Generals play better defense than the Knicks. Being an out-of-town NBA-Ticket watcher I got to listen to the Knicks broadcast team, who spent most of the second quarter philosophizing about how, if both teams played their best, "the Knicks would win by eleven, but they're not playing they're best." When Frazier and the other idiot quickly reached aporia trying to substantiate this comment, they awkwardly referred to the on-court analyst who queued them that it was Raef LaFrentz who made the comment during shootaround. Thanks Raef. What a "character" guy.
I hope you're just kidding around about cuddly Delonte. I think he's had a great season for a second-year point guard starting with three $10M+ veterans on a sub-par team.
And, well, the Celtics are on the verge of just barely missing the playoffs, so we can expect to be cheered up by all kinds of "moral victory" and "growing pains" crap for the next six months. Hooray. The cup is half full, but it's half full of bullshit.

anon, "reached aporia" hahahaha, I'm a big Derrida fan, so thank you for that.
I love Delonte, he and Perk are my two favorite current Celtics, I just hate the way people gush over him like he's the second fucking coming. Gorman, Heinsohn, various posters at various message boards, etc. The fact is, if this team eventually wants to contend, we'll need a real PG, not one that people want to think is good just because he has a great story and personality. I mean, he's very good, he's just not a starting PG. That said, I'd be thrilled if he proved me wrong.
PS - the recap is a bit disjointed, sorry, I was really fucking tired when I wrote it.

Derrida was at some Harvard symposium after which there was a cocktail party. A Harvard professor, who's name I forget, went up to Derrida and asked him what he thought of "cinema in the United States..."
Derrida "It's everywhere, you can't escape it, I go out in the morning an there it is, they put it on your coffee, they put in on your brioche. I find it repulsive and disturbing."
The Harvard professor "I said cinema, film, not cinnamon..."
----
You forgot to mentionn Tommy saying that "basketball is like a stage, you need character actors, leading men, and stage hands."

It's definitely amazing how the Knicks manage to suck so bad with so much talent. They just can't get it together to save their lives. I feel bad for them.

hahaha, JD should have done a Dunkin Donuts commercial before he died. (Voice of Derrida intones over images of coffee, pastry, and old cinema houses filled with ex-Red Sox players and dead algerian revolutionaries - "Cinnamon... pharmakon... differance...")
Yeah, I got all misty eyed myself when Tommy started in on the Broadway play metaphor. He even intro'd it with a "if you listen to us a lot you know that I often say..." Yes Tommy, we're all aware.

Cinema/cinnamon: is there really a difference? Actually, though, I'm studying deconstruction and some other crap for an exam on April 7th. After that I vow never to read Derrida or any other critical theory or philosophy again. (Did I just invoke a performative speech act?)

oh yeah, I think the Dolph Schayes, Strickland, Heinsohn thing was some celebration of NYC/NJ hoop players.
No word on why Sweet pea Lloyd Daniels wasn't invited. Perhaps he could've taught Tony Allen a thing or two during the pregame.

don't worry, we'll join these disparate worlds together - "as I urinated into the open mouth of Claud Levi-Strauss, I realized, the Celtics need to work on defending the pick and roll. Also, Claud's asshole didn't stink all that badly for a dead man. Fuck Coc."

When you write "urinated into the mouth of Claud Levi-Strauss," I read that as, "Raef LaFrentz couldn't post up Julia Kristeva with fourteen-inch dildo"

What does Rod Strickland and Tommy Heinsohn have in common?
- 2 guys Larry Brown would trade Starbury and Jalen Rose for right now.
- Both have a better chance of making a playoff roster this year than anyone on the Knicks.
- Both have more "upside" than anyone making over 2 million on the Knicks roster.
- 2 guys that used to be very good players and now suck, as opposed to the Knicks who will suck forever in salary cap wasteland.
- 2 guys who would make better GMs than Isiah, even after 50 beers.

ha! Thanks Rod. I think you and Tommy are also more likely to be on the Celtics next year than Orien Greene. Ouch. TFTF, on the way to working at a car dealership.
Speaking of Rod Strickland, I never need an excuse to plug the Wizznutzz, but now that I have one, I will. http://www.wizznutzz.com.

One thing that ROD STRICKLAND??? brings up troubles me: salary cap hell. Then Knicks payroll is over $100M. Do they even care about the salary cap. Is the salary cap (payroll tax or whatever it is) even enforceable against or significant for teams in huge markets? Is the NBA on its way to becoming Money League Baseball?

Ummm.... The Knicks still suck donkey dick. The best teams in the league aren't hitting the cap Pistons/Spurs. So if the Lakers and the Knicks want to drop a couple hundred million to play sub .500 ball - let them.

other owners don't care because of the luxury tax. It could be argued that you need a few teams that are willing to go way over the cap and pay money out to the rest of the league.
It'll all be fixed when Lebron bolts for the Knicks.

In the meantime, what the fuck are we doing? Trying to make the playoffs? Or moving towards the best lottery postion? Why do I get the feeling that it's somewhere in the middle, and we end up with a double digit lottery pick and miss the guy we could have really used. By the way, those games that Coc cost us at the beginning of the year are coming back to bite us.

The only thing I can figure that the Celtics are doing is attempting to create has many on court highlights that allow for gratuitious shots of the owner in latest queer eye for the queer guy outfit.

Ah, the end of a season with nine games left. Let's lose them all, please, and get the 6 pick at the least. What a frustrating year, all was not lost. We got rid of Morkunt, but gained a Scalaburine and kept a Coc.

ha! We lost Mork Cunt but gained bigger Scalatitties. Perhaps we should send our "bigs" to the WNBA.
What a debacle this year was/is. I've been getting killed at work, but this whole Pierce resigning thing is depressing. I have no beef with the man, I think he's had a great year, but 19 million heading his way when he's 33 is frankly, terrifying.
Some great Coc quotes in the Globe, my favorite - "...the bigs that I would tinker with..."

Hey, what happened to the Bulls game? I'm addicted to Celtics Doom now. Having been forced to read the mainstream coverage, I think the playoffs are still within reach and it's probably a good thing that Raef scores only two points in the paint while the Bulls are covering him with a small forward. Yeah, spread the floor!
