Yeah, you said it Dr. Chestnutt, what a fucking boring game. It was one of those games in which you hope for an arena power outage to add some excitement. My wife and daughter were watching the Nutcracker on the other TV (we have two tvs next to each other to promote family harmony) and I couldn't decide who was gayer Baryshnikov or Raef. But you could tell LaFrankenstein had something to prove last night, as if his 8 points, 5 rebounds, 0.9 blocks, and 0.9 freethrows per game should ensure him a permanent role in the starting lineup if not the all-star team and hall of fame. His performance reminded me of Walter McCarty's in the opening game a few years back in Toronto when Waltah hit six threes and then never left the arc again in his Celtics career. Raef is about as useless as Waltah, at ten times the price. But, as you said, unfortunately, Perk sucked too. If anybody thinks he's going to develop hands and feet to play offense in the next couple years, I have my doubts. He's a bull in a china shop. Gerald Green was fun to watch though, but I think the Cs already have plenty of shooting guards and small forwards with Pierce, Wally, Tony, Delonte, Gomes, and Raef. Oh well, I hope the Cs get a lottery pick. I hear there's an outstanding power forward at Walsh Middle School in Framingham. If they pick him, and we're patient with Danny for the next 12 years, I can see flag number seventeen hanging in the rafters of whatever the hell they'll be calling Boston Garden by that time.

That is about as depressing as a win can get. What other team could get themselves into a close game by shooting 60% while commiting twenty TOs? What a weird bunch of fuckers.

I was pretty optimistic at the beginning of the season, but now i have absolutely no idea what to think about the majority of our players. pierce is truly great. west and perkins (and maybe wally) could be contributors on some good team. but what about allengomesjeffersongreenegreen? will they ever settle down and stop being so frustrating? who knows.

Gravatar I got hammered. The difference between a six-pack of Beck's Dark and my regular Michelob Light game time six pack was... dramatic. I guess I'm glad I don't really remember the game.

Gravatar Anon- 2012, TD Banknorth Garden renamed "Brokeback Grousbeck Arena." New team jerseys made of pleather.

WPDK, this off-season is going to be huge in answering those questions. Right now, if someone said we could move Al, Green and our #1 for Bosh, I'd do it in a heartbeat (as, I believe, so would most). But who else is really out there that we can add that would make a difference? If you can move Wally and allow Delonte to play the 2, get a real pg, etc, maybe there'd be a chance of improvement. Otherwise, I just don't see who we can add, and I don't see the current crop being any good before Pierce reaches 30.

I was honored today to see that the Wizznutzz (http://www.wizznutzz.com) did a response to some bit of strangeness I put on their comment thing awhile back. I try not to be a fanboy in anything in my life, but I really really respect the work they do over there and I encourage everyone to check it out (if you don't already). It's the most unique, accomplished, and organic collection of surreal comedy writing on any blog anywhere. Seriously, Wizznutzz fucking rule.

Gravatar sorry, the link is http://www.wizznutzz.com

Also, I'm going to miss tonight due to a work thing, unfortunately, because it promised to be a far more interesting game. If anyone wants to chart the number of times Tommy bitches about those old Gilbert Arenas calls, it'd be fully appreciated.

Gravatar Gilly had a super game! I nicknamed him Gilly by the way.

He really hates the celtic management staff, according to the associated press and C-Blog.

I would not trade Green for all the all-stars in the world. The kid is going to be one helluva player in this league, just sit back and watch.

Lastly, I wish I could get wrecked on a six-pack.

Wally is NOT IMPRESSIVE.

Gravatar totally agree on Green. Once the game starts slowing down for him he'll be a crazy scorer. He might need some Ninja training though to develop maturity. Maybe they can send him to that crazy old japanese guy in Kill Bill. HA!

Gravatar Pai Mei, I believe was his name.

RDF, I call Gilbert "Nil-bert" because of the whole Zero thing. It'd be nice if we get to see Gerald develop as a Celtic, but I really think he and Al are trade bait #1 and 2 in the quest to "surround Pierce with veterans/winners/talent/experience/whatever..."

Gravatar they trade Green and it will be a huge mistake.

Gravatar Green was impressive and has matured greatly this season. But I think somebody is going to have to be traded. They're going to need to give up a pick and a young player to get rid of Raef and get a legitimate big guy. I didn't realizde that Raef had pouted to the media about his ever-changing role. Then after the game he acted like he puts up 20/8 every night. Well, that was short-lived. Of course the apologists had to distance his comments from Blount's made earlier in the season. Blount=bad; Raef=good. Okay, ditto-heads? Raef fucking sucks! One of the funniest things about the game, perhaps the quote of the night (other than "Green is a scud") came when Tommy complained about a no-call, "Davis just walked Raef right off the rebound!" Uh, Tommy, Raef has seven inches and about fifty pounds on Antonio Davis, why is David walking Raef off rebounds? Also, I'm a little unclear about the dissatisfaction with Wally. For a team that is absolutely 100% committed to not playing defense and has no other strategy then to try to outscore its opponents Wally's perfect.

Gravatar hahahaha, anon, that last sentence is perfect. We'll have to see if RDF agrees.

What was the Green is a scud comment? Like, a SCUD missile?

I really think Raef is here to stay, I can't see Ainge making another salary dump move while under the guise of "building around Paul." Also, Raef and Pierce are super-tight, and that off the court stuff might count if they're looking to make PP happy. Personally, I don't hate Raef, simply because I think he is more adaptable than Blount. He could be an effective bench player whereas Blount only seemed effective when shooting the ball all the time and getting lots of minutes. Also, I'd rather see Raef than Scalaburine. None of this should be construed as a defense of Raef, just my opinion on the varying degrees of suckitude that comprise our roster.

Willie - Saw III! We demand brief "crowd shot" cameos for all Celtics Doom commentators!

Gravatar I don't think Wally is perfect for this team. We are fast, he is slow... I believe he disrupts the flow of the game. Additionally, he has been wildly inconsistent since arriving here. Fuck that knee shit, if it was that bad he would be sitting.

Last night he shot under 35%. That's not acceptable if your only function is to knock down J's. He'll have a decent game and get 22 with 50% and then drop down to 10 pts and 25%. If we are looking for an inconsistent scorer, we could have kept Ricky and saved $7 million a year.

On that same point, Ricky put up 33 last night (in a loss). He has been very consistent since being shipped out and still remains in the top 30 in scoring.

Gravatar I'm willing to give Wally another chance next season, because of the knee, but I've been really surprised and disapointed with how inconsistent his shot has been. Barring a dramatic turnaround, his contract appears to be yet another classic Ainge albatross.

Did you see that quote where Ricky said, "I not here to babysit, I'm here to win."? Sounds like that team is at each others throats.

Gravatar This season was a suckcess!!!

Gravatar I would be willing to change my opinion on Wally, but he would really need to impress me. That's not easy. Not for someone who is a top 15 contract in the league. He better bring it next year.

Maybe we can trade him for Arenas... hahaha!!

I really see Wally being the downfall of this franchise. Someone is going to come in and resign our guys to a max deal that we can't match because Wally, Raef and Pierce eat up 80% of our cap space.

2008 estimations - Wally 13.5, Raef 13.5, Pierce 18 - $45 million out of a 60 million cap. We resign Orien Greene to a 3 year $40 mil extension leaving us with $3 million to field the rest of the team.

Gravatar hahaha, bring back Yogi Stewart's expiring contract!

Gravatar i'm sure the impending mike james signing will solve all the problems.

Gravatar I don't think the C's will sign Mike James. There's something lacking about his, Blount's, Banks's, and Ricky D's "character" that Raef, Scalabrine, Wally, Dickau, and Jiri have. I'm not sure what it is. Better ask a Mormon.

Gravatar To think I used to feel bad after a loss. It's kind of fun to root to lose and get it. Let's close out the season 0'fer and get real lucky in the lottery. And, oh yeah, I used to get special hugs until my hemmorhoids got in the way. Just like that gay dinosaur, Megasaurass.

Gravatar megasaurass! hahahahhahaha, that's also what anyone shooting a free throw gets from Wally's spastic high fives and congratulatory ass-slapping.

As for going o'fer, for the life of me I don't understand why we don't do exactly that. I mean, are Gerald Green and Perk going to "learn" from watching the vets flounder for 8 games and win half of them? What's the point? That will somehow dramatically solidify the team's character? Half these guys are going to be trade bait all summer anyway.

Gravatar CBlog has the pre-season predictions from various non-CelticsDoom media/blog entities, but for the record, we said 35-47.

Gravatar Please be 31-51. Let Scalaburine start and it can happen.

Gravatar Tied for 7th with Minny... The irony...
