a Fassbinder reference? What's next the Celtics as a remake of All that Heaven Will Allow?

Hey Wyc, for a million dollars I could make lightening over water.
In terms of ownership and how they've done so far; You must admit that even dwarves started small.
I'll save the Alexander Kluge references for training camp.

ha! you know I love this shit. We did have that Grizzly Man reference earlier, so I guess it's a journey through German New Wave. That said, the Celtics season ended about as happily as the Marriage of Maria Braun. But at least we got to hang out here like a bunch of Young Torless's and mock the failure as it happened. As for the draft, I hope we pick an American Friend or at very least a good Euro so this franchise can show some Signs of Life.

It was a nice change hearing Cousy last night, but I think it would be even nicer if maybe he actually watched some Celtics games during the season when he is not broadcasting. Hearing him say that he hasn't seen much of Delonte this season begs the question, Then why the hell are you broadcasting a Celtics game? Cousy, like Wyc, also said the Celts might be one player away, though I think I heard his teeth grinding as he said it. I do think they are one player away, though. And that player is Raef. If they can get rid of Raef they'll be a much better team. These last two games were pathetic. Raef is making as much money as all the other Celtics combined (except Kandi-girl), yet he is the most ineffective player on the court. I think it is not a coincidence that Raef is the only Celtic to play in all 82 games and the Celtics suck shit. This was Raef's year to finally be healthy (or at least admit that he can't use injuries as an excuse), yet he produced exactly the same numbers as his "rehabilitation" season two years ago. Additionally, teams have figured out that they can put a small forward on Raef, because he has absolutely no inside game, and not worry about having to pull a center out of the middle, rendering Raef completely useless even as a "spread the floor" decoy. Unlike Tommy who is effusive in his praise of Raef, Cousy couldn't even bring himself to utter Raef's name, not there that was any reason to.

I agree with you on Cousy, Anon, it's strange how disengaged he is, but I still like listening to him. Last season he was watching Penny Hardaway in a game and he said in all sincerity, "Wasn't this guy a star at one point in the league?" As if he hadn't read an article on the NBA in six years.
Raef has looked brutal over the past few games. I used to like to think he could be eased into an effective backup role (as, theoretically, Al and Perk ascend), but this season he's eased into an ineffective backup role. With him, Scalaburine, Dickau and Orien, we have 4 guys under contract next season who are essentially DOA, basketball wise.
WPDK - also, Chris Paul.

"about as believable as Tommys' touch of the flu" LOLOLOL. I think instead of the death penalty or life imprisonment they should make Mossauai watch the rerun of every game this season. Let's not let Coc escape any criticism, he gave this team away a long time ago. I'm not sure what's worth keeping at this point, maybe that will be the subject of another excellent opinion piece. I do know that I used to look forward to watching the Celtics as much as I looked forward to fucking my wife, before she got so fat I've got to roll her in dough to find the wet spot.

This article was definitely laugh out loud funny.
I think we could safely assume that Duncan, O'neil, LeBron and C. Paul are all coming here next season to play with Pierce and some of the good character guys. Best player in the league in the stat column is LeBron. Could a West, Pierce, LeBron, Wally, 7 Footer of the day team actually win a championship? Not unless it was at the South End Y.
Wally doesn't make a winning team. Pierce isn't into the sharing thing enough to play with another superstar (like he took lessons from Kobe). Who are we going to put there? Bobby Jackson? Is he the fucking missing piece? Because that's likely who we get. So tell me, will Bobby Jackson save our franchise? Is he a 22/12/10 guy just waiting to pop the fuck out of his shell?
Or maybe, just maybe we can draft a white guy (Reddick?) trade Pierce for Swift and have the most fucking Irish-looking team on the planet. We may not win a game, but the folks across the pond will sure dig it.

Sometimes I wonder why I wasted my money on season tickets... then I realize I just get drunk and scream at Scal during the entire loss-in-process.
He ignores our section for the first half of the game, but by the second half he is glaring at us and wishing we'd die. Oddly enough, this somehow makes up for the shitty basketball.
I can't believe I am about to say this but... thank you Scal for being so bad. Thank you for being absolutely void of any and all fundamental basketball skills. You can't even set a fucking pick and not get called for a foul. You are so bad, it's good. And it only solidifies my opinion that New Jerseyans are hethens because they applauded your "work ethic" and "little things." I would like to nuke them, and you.

welcome bukes.
RDF, dead on with the analysis. Ainge will add another perimeter player, most likely someon old and on the verge of breaking down who's best days are behind him. Bobby Jackson would actually make me happy, I expect someone like Travis Best or some retred stiff like that.
Ainge has no expectations for next year though, and Wyc is happy that the team all likes each other.
I, and most fans, could give a fuck if they like each other as long as they play well on the court. Just a desperate attempt to pawn off a shitty product with horrible PR spin.

Thank you BUKES! I'm sorry I live in California and cannot be there to heckle Scal with you. I hope you give the same shit to Raef, who is just as bad as Scal at 3-4 times the cost.
Willie is right on with the PR shit. Rasheed Wallace has 16 or 17 technical fouls this year (Delonte leads the Celts with 4), and the Pistons are contending for a championship. What does character have to do with winning in the NBA--not a fucking thing. Meanhwile, Danny and Wyc hope to turn the Celts into the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Gimme a fucking break!

Moreover, Shaq and Kobe won three championships together, and they hate each other more than Jacques Derrida and John Searle. I want a team that wins, not fucks each other in the ass (although I don't care if they do as long as they win).

Cool, a Celtics season ticket holder here on Celticsdoom, Wyc should be worried. Thanks for venting at Scal for all of us Bukes, you should ask him to pay for your seats out of his 3 mill a year.
Myassholestnx, Coc is so bad, I've almost stopped noticing. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if he's A) Fired tomorrow, or B) signed to a 10 year extension.
Willie, Anon, the only thing this team produces are easily forgotten promises. This idea of "good character" is the latest effort to push the line of expectation back as far as possible. We lose but we're loveable. What the fuck ever.
RDF, we're trading Big Al and a second rounder for Duncan. Actually, a team of Pierce, Duncan, LeBron, Nash and Shaq would still lose if we had Coc coaching.

PS: Anon, hahaha, thanks for the Limited INC. To further the classy comparisons, Shaq and Kobe hate each other like Neitzsche and Wagner. Like Wittgenstein and Hegel. Like Raoul Coutard and JL Godard during the Dziga-Vertov years.

Maybe even Doc couldn't screw that team up... I just can't see who that "1 guy" is... One player away describes the Heat. Or the Mavs. They are both seriously one player away from the championship. Artest probably would have been the player for both of them. He is tough defensively and can put up shots. After those teams, there is a big gap between teams that "one player away" and teams that are good enough to be perenial playoff teams, but will never ever win a championship. We might make it to the latter category with one of the afformentioned players, but never to the former.

yeah, absolutely, those teams can legitimately claim to be just missing a piece of the puzzle. I think it's weird how underdiscussed how much of an impact Artest made, both by joining the Kings and leaving the Pacers. People might not like him (and thus, he fails Wyc's "character" test), but the dude makes teams better. Replace Pierce with Artest and we'd be a playoff team.

And most of those assholes over on Celticsblog didn't want Artest. You've got to have talent to win in this league, Artest has it.

I'm beginning to think that Dr. Chestnutt is my alter ego in some sort of multi personality psychic breakdown.
I cannot believe that you know who Coutard is much less the Dziga Vertov years from Godard.
Next you will tell me that you know who Medvedkin, Marker, and Fred Wiseman are.

I don't know who any of those guys are, but I know basketball talent and Artest has it. He actually does "all the little things" that a coach wants. He plays hard nose defense, against the BEST players. Pierce shutting down Smush Parker when we play the Lakers doesn't get me hot. Artest shutting down the best scorers in the league does. He really plays on both ends of the floor better than anyone else. I wouldn't take him first in the league, but if I was constructing a championship team I would need him, Bowen or one of those Detroit boys. They are lockdown defenders. He is the missing piece for so many teams. The Kings were a fucking joke before he got there and they gave up their leading scorer to get him.
Incidentally, J.O'neal is a sad fucking case. In his tenure as an NBA player he actually only has hit double figures in half the games he's been eligible to play in. When he is playing, and like trying and stuff, he is damn good. It's the other 60% of the time you've got to watch him.
Only bringing him up because a bunch of folks seem to think he is the key.

A team with Pierce, Duncan, and LeBron wouldn't bother listening to Doc. He's the NBA coaching equivalent of a nursery school teacher. Other coaches deconstruct him like Derrida on Levi-Strauss.

Uh, did I miss the Celtics championship run this season? Listening to the Mormon Tabernacle Circle Jerk with Tommy, Mike, Bob, and Danny in the second quarter, I thought maybe the Celtics made a run for the title. I believe Tommy summed up the season when he said, "Everything worked out just right." WHAT THE FUCK TEAM WERE THESE GUYS WATCHING THIS SEASON? I don't know how Tommy can still speak with so many of Danny's pubic hairs in his mouth. Tommy, GET A FUCKING LIFE!

hahaha, Willie, the psychotic breakdown is real, and now the important question is, do you know who Tyler Durden is? Dammit! No wonder I'm tired all the time. Uhh, Wiseman is a documentarian, right? Medvedkin was of the Eisenstein era, no clue on the other one. I'm such a film dilletente, if I can find it on DVD, I usually give up.
RDF, O'Neal is undoubtedly who the C's are going to pursue in the offseason, something that is terrifying to me. A PP, WS, JO lineup looks good on paper I guess, but it condems us to "better than the Bulls worse than the Cavs" territory. At least Ainge acknowledged in the game that defense was a big problem.
Anon, while watching the game last night I jotted down so many idiotic Tommy quotes that I just had to give up after awhile. It was unreal. Was he actually praising the ownership for this debacle? I mean, is he on a year to year contract or something? It was fucked up.

Incidentally, one of my more frequent war cries directed at the hack we know as Scalabrine, is in fact "Scalabrine, use that 15 million dollar contract to pay for everyones tickets all year, and we'll stop booing you you bum!"
Also, "Scalabrine, section 17 needs some water." I have noticed a definite transformation throughout the season. At first, we were optomisitc about him in a way. "The token white guy. The hard worker. The next role player. Jud Buechler with the Bulls. Scot Pollard with the Kings." And as the season went on, he never showed anything. Everyone started seeing through the bullshit.
Now it's common knowledge. Ainge paid 15 million, over 5 years... to a guy that wouldn't be considered good in an over 40 league. We will never be able to rid ourselves of his contract. It's expected that we give him a hard time. I use to get the death stare by some stuffy fans when I barked something at him... now everyone just nods, chuckles, understands, and accepts.
I'm seriously debating whether I should take one for the good of the Celtics organization... and just run out on the court during a preseason game next year and shoulder block his kneecap. End it for him right there. The jail time would be worth it when his minutes go elsewhere.
