Watched bits and pieces of this game while the commercials were playing during Lost.
Brutal, just brutal.
The Celtics game too.
Yes Pierce scored 29 but was a horrific 7 for 15 from the line and there is your difference friends.
I was listening for a classic Tommy line for you Dr but I just caught his normal mumbling and yelling.

Great game. Loved it. More on that later after coffee.
I may have mixed you up on the Roy/Foye thing. Danny's brilliant draft day strategies were too complex for me, and I am admittedly ignorant about college hoops (and most other things). It was Foye whom the Celts drafted and traded. Roy was picked sixth by the truly great Celtics player and horrible basketball manager, Kevin McHale. Minnesota then somehow let Roy go to Portland for Foye. I'm sure the details of how these great basketball minds, Ainge's and McHale's, made this happen are very interesting. The fact that McHale still has his job is almost as astounding as the fact that Danny is still here.

Lord, can practice start any quicker for my team?
Let's see: Defense was spotty, free throw shooting was horrible, Tellpoor fired off game one in his drive to proof that a lottery pick truly can be pissed away and Jefferson premiered his Chuck Norris defensive style.
On the positive side, Pierce had a monster game offensively and on the boards, suggesting that he'll play hard at least for awhile. And Jefferson was relatively efficient offensively.
Bottom line: The Celts did nothing last night to suggest that anything substantitive has changed from last year.
There's still time for the idiots who are talking 50 wins to scramble, backpeddle and reclaim what's left of their credibility.

You’re lucky, Dr., the game was terrible, and the first quarter was the most embarrassing since quarter 1 of game 7 against Indiana. Couple of observations.
1) We acquired two fast and “pure” point guards to run, and when not running, execute a more efficient half-court offence. We didn’t run AT ALL, and the half court offense was something a traveling rec coach would be embarrassed about. There is NOTHING pure about Telfair. He sucks. Rondo is only a little better.
2) When Wally can’t shoot, it doesn’t stop him from shooting. At least Raef could do a couple more things, and wouldn’t take shots when he’s off.
3) Pierce played with heart (pains me to say that), but the “comeback” was same-old stand around and watch Pierce bullshit that a pure point guard was supposed to fix.
4) Chris “they kept the wrong” Paul just toyed with us. Cousy creamed in his pants, if that’s still possible, talking about the should be Celtic. He is the only above average player on that team, and he runs them like a master. As a basketball fan, he’s an absolute delight to watch.
I guess it boils down to one more point… Celtics fans booed the Celtics on Red’s night.

Just wait until the cheerleaders arrive to lend another layer of excrement on top of the pile of shit Wyc has assembled.
This game was beyond depressing. Perhaps watching Danny Ainge goad the current Celtics and former greats into a circle at center court and all put there hands in the center to shout "Let's go Celtics!!" was the harbinger of the absurdity to come.
Let's see, after two preseason games threads are started and emails are written that Doc Chestnutt needs to apologize about his Rondo assessment..ahh okay...I'll be waiting for the retraction after the Pistons stomp the living shit out of Ainge's crappy backcourt.
Wally is a corpse, awful. Ratliff can't play, Roy will be ROY and an all star when Telfair is back in Coney Island relieving the glory days.
Pierce is the only NBA player on the roster. I would have rather watched a WNBA game than that crap. At least Bob Cousey wasn't trying to sell us a pile of green shit as an up and coming team and was as honest as an announcer ever has been.

1) Allow opponents to score less than 96 points.
2) Get 36 Free Throw attempts per game.
3) Score 32 points off the fast break per game.
All I have to say is..... riiiiiiight.
Also, the YMCA High School basketball league rule that all players must get equal playing time was indeed in effect last night.

Last night's gruesome display makes me long for those halcyon days of Coc's runny anus. That was at least good for a chuckle. This was just sad.
So, in honor of our lousy head coach, I vow to watch all future Celtics games while sitting on the can (you may call it the "throne" or the "bowl"). Might as well get SOME satisfaction out of watching a C's game. Hey, Coc - PLOP!
Seriously, he ought to be publicly flogged for sending out such a shameful starting lineup. And his sad allegiance towards Tony Allen is nothing short of alarming. Does he have photos of Coc and Macaulay Culkin or something?
Red had the right idea, methinks...

I usually don't pay much attention to whether or not a team comes out "flat." But, last night Coc held his starting lineup secret until the last minute, and, in my opinion, this was to prevent everybody including the players from saying, "WTF?" When he finally announced the lineup, which had not even been tried as a starting lineup in the preseason, the players must have been, "Huh? Uh, ok, coach...note to self: call agent and seek trade." This may explain why the team came out flat. Doc is an embarrassment.
Doc made so many bad judgments last night that it will take a whole season to name them all. I was most pissed off by the need to put redundant swingman, Sebastian Telfart, in the starting lineup in place of Ryan Gomes, the only consistently decent young player on the team.
And another thing, I don't understand the part of Danny's plan that leads him to draft middle school players that play the only position on the team that is stable and then let them ride the bench into obscurity. We have been told over and over that Gerald Green should have gone third in the draft. (Cough!) The Celts were ecstatic to get him at #18. Meanhwile, taken at #19, Hakim Warrick started for Memphis last night and had 22 points and 12 rebounds; David Lee, taken at #30 had 10 points and 13 rebounds and was instrumental in the Knicks OT win, which was lead by point guard Nate Robinson, taken at #21; and Jarrett Jack, taken at #22 is now the starting point guard for Portland, having beaten out Telfart.
Well, nobody's perfect I guess. But I guess this is all Danny's plan. Which gives me an idea. Danny should call his plan "20/20 Vision." That is, a plan to win a championship in the year 2020. I think Wyc will go for it. Send the talking points to Tommy and Mike! (But don't bother sending them to Cousy because, as we heard last night, he ain't falling for any of this bullshit.) And if, on the outside chance the Celts make the final playoff spot this year and get swept by the number one seed: "Uh, Mr. Bush, can we borrow that 'Mission Accomplished' sign?"

Shits Rivers, I might try that idea of watching the C's games while s(h)itting on the throne, may as well accomplish something positive in those miserable three hours. What has this team been working on in practice, there was no flow on offense or defense. If Coc screws up Gerald Green he should be skewered. I got a feeling we are going to be saying "We coulda had Brandon Roy" alot this year. I swear, the team was a lot more fun to watch when Jim O'Brien was the coach. Let's see, if I stop watching Celtic games, 81 games x 3 hours = 243 hours more to spend with the Old Bag...Fuck Coc, Fuck Ainge, Fuck 'em all!

holy shit, I'm laughing my ass off here. HA! I don't know what else to say.
We must trade Tony Allen to the Riker's Island prison league for a carton of Kools! Inmate 42 is to Coc as Waltah was to OB. Inexplicable.
Love the new Brokebassy nicknames - Telfart, Telfail, etc.
I guess we should clear the Roy/Foye thing up - on draft night it was established that McHale wanted Foye and the Blazers wanted Roy, so McHale took Roy to extract a little cash out of the Blazers AND get his guy. Being that Foye had mad buzz on draft night, we here got shit from some idiot who used to post here who kept insisting that I not refer to us as could have gotten Foye (as I would say Foye/Roy) and that we "only" would have gotten Roy. In either case, it's already the worse trade the Celtics have made since Potapenko (for the #1 that could have been Marion)
Anyway, this is incredible. Anyone want to set the line for Coc's firing at Dec 15? Or is this some crazy genius play for Greg Oden?

If there's any justice (in so many capacities), both Somebastard Telfart and Tha Inmate will both be hauled off to the clink by December - coinciding with Coc's uncerimonious dismissal, en route to the league's worst record. Now THAT would make a great X-mas gift!

Coc is an idiot. Imagine you were a manager or GM at your job. You hire way too many inexperienced workers for your group. Year after year your group sucks, but you just keep telling your boss and your clients to have patience while you get killed by the competition. Your day to day group leader, in his third year, still can't make up his mind about who should be doing which roles. Anybody with any experience that is in your group knows that the leadership sucks and is therefore cast off as a malcontent unless they are so grossly overpaid that they just sit at their desks downloading porn and keeping their mouths shut. In the words of Donald Trump: "YOU'RE FIRED!!! Now, send that hot bitch Alexis up to my office."

You gotta read Emily's Dancer Diary on the Celtics page. Great stuff.
"Which brings me back to our booty-shaking practice. Marina breaks it down for us. Legs apart, bend your knees deeply, both hands on your right hip, and pop it, pop it, hit, end. She has two girls, who obviously have a bit more rhythm than me, demonstrate. I see the rest of the girls try it. They don't look half bad, so I decide to give it a go. Legs apart, check. Knees bent deeply, check. Both hands on my right hip, got it. Then I attempt the booty pop. But wait; there was movement, but no pop. So I try it again. Yep, plenty of movement, but absolutely no pop.
At work the next day, I decide to share my booty-popping foils with my co-worker, and of course, she makes me demonstrate, not really believing it could be as hard as I'm telling her it is. Forgetting there is a window in my office which looks out onto a sea of cubes, I assume the proper position and give it another go, hoping the good night's sleep has turned me into the hip-hop guru I know is buried in me somewhere. Hysterically laughing, she has to try it with me. Another co-worker walks by and barges into my office since this isn't a normal site at our workplace, especially before morning coffee. We convince her to try it, too. And we all know how this unfortunate anecdote is going to end: our CIO, who usually works in a building 15 miles away, walks by and sees three girls in Ann Taylor business casual attire, shaking it like it's a Saturday night in Vegas."

How long are we going to have to endure Telfailure? Tommy and Cousy have already repeatedly pointed out how much he sucks and how either/both Rondo and D-Herpes should be ahead of him at PG. My guess is that this turns into another Raef thing wherein it is too embarrassing to Danny to have his posterboy riding the pine, so Bassy will be starting all year. My list of things to be upbeat and positive about;
-Scalabrine has been hurt
-Shits is a dead man walking. My old bag said the other night when she caught a glimpse of Shits "What's wrong with Doc? He looks depressed."
Personally I don't know why he would be depressed, he'll be making 10 million for the next two years to play golf and catch Georgetown games. Most likely he'll never get a head coaching job again.
-Pierce is already talking about his 'breaking point'. He'll be crying for a trade by January.
-They're headed for the lottery, enough of this rebuilding on the fly shit.
There is far more to be depressed about, as the crew that Ainge passed on continues to tear up the league and the kool aiders attempt to find solace in Brokebassy's 24 point display while giving up 40.
One more thing to be positive about, There is no point in wasting money to catch a Celtics game or to waste time watching Tommy try to stave off a nervous breakdown.

Regarding trading #7 for Telfailure, I have to own up and say that that trade also helped us get rid of Raef. I said last spring I would trade the pick to unload Raef, and I'm still glad we did. I know we took on Theo at almost the same price, but getting rid of the stiff, three-point-chucking swingman/center Raef was worth it. He sucked shit. I also think the huge and hugely misguided acquisition of Raef was the cornerstone of the Ainge era. I think the dumping of Raef, though costing us the #7 pick, signals that the Ainge era (error) is now basically over.
Regarding Doc crying about never having a chance after he is fired, it's true. The personnel on this team has never been competitive in Doc's tenure. I pray to the God of Mormons that Danny gets fired too.

From RealGM:
This is all just conjecture at this point, but I feel a team of Perkins, Jefferson, Gomes, Green, and Telfair is a contending starting lineup in 5-7 years WITHOUT Pierce, Wally, or any other vets...that's just me...I see scoring, rebounding, passing, and intelligence in this unit...there are plenty of assets to trade on this team or keep that don't include those player, or could possibly include them...but my patience is based off the belief that those 5 can be an effective team on their own by the time Pierce is ready to hang it up...
So, waiting patiently to let those kids develop while re-signing them and growing their roles AROUND Pierce, Wally, and whatever other vet they aquire is fine by me...Rondo, West, Allen, Powe are nice prospects as well that I could see rounding out the depth of that other 5 as well, though I see them pesonally as more tradable because I see the other 5 as the "starters" on a theoretical future Celtics team...
Regardless, it comes down to whether or not you believe these players can develop and become high-level players...my opinion is not only can they be very good, but they won't COST that much to re-sign to their next 4 and 5 year deals, which allows the team to add complementary pieces through MLE and FA signings, not to mention the draft picks we'll still be getting...
I think this team is in fine shape, i'd like to add a top quality vet, but not at the cost of the young core...my 5 "keepers" are 21, 21, 24, 20, 21 respectively...in 3 seasons they will be as consistent as Wally and Paul are now and continually improving while Paul and Wally are still on this team...even if both Paul and Wally are declining, the productin of the other 5 will offset any drop in the other two...
I like the players we've got, they don't have to be a championship mix, just very good starters that have managable salaries that give the team flexability to add to them....its not about 20 years-I hate that too-its about the here and now and letting it come together...the young players are improving and as long as they continue to improve there is no reason to make drastic moves...
Early leader for the dumbshit of the day award.

Yeah, that's what I thought you were saying. Do yourself a favor and stop reading that other blog.
I'm pretty well convinced that Perk is a career journeyman center. The jury's still out on Al. He could someday start on a low-budget team. Bassy is already starting on a low-budget team and will continue to do so. He's definitely in the top 50-60 point guards in the league, probably. No one knows what will become of Gerald Green, though I don't agree with drafting guys that are decades away from making an impact. Gomes is a good backup forward. I think Gomes took advantage of his status as an unknown last year. Now, teams sometimes cover him when Pierce doesn't have the ball. Also, his minutes may suffer this year because he is over 6'4".

Not sure if you guys have seen this yet:
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/po...ba/
powerranking
Also JJ - That seems to be the Ainge plan. Those 5 keepers must become a championship caliber starting 5 or the Celtics are SOL for the Ainge era.
It is true that these players won't break the bank to resign, but the notion that the team could add quality players thru the MLE and FA signings is a lie. The Celtics are known for spending money stupidly and tying up the salary cap. Greg Minor, Pervis Ellison, Travis Knight, to name a few, and in the Ainge era we've endured Scala fucking brine, Pierce, Raef, Wally, Ratliff, and Blount.
The managment is simply not patient enough to allow bad deals to expire without going out and adding a few more bad deals. I'd love it if we could say this team is an expansion team, but the reality is that we're as bad as an expansion team with a large number of horrible contracts holding the team back as well. Go to hoopshype and check out the Bobcats salary situation. You'll notice no Pierce, Wally, Scalabrine, and Ratliff making waaay too much money. Plus they have more promising young players.
The Pierce signing truly blows my mind and crushes my spirits, to be honest. We're the New York Knicks Lite. No purpose, no design. Al Jefferson HOF or bust, baby!
But hey, the team has looked terrible so far so maybe the Celts will contend for a top draft pick. Unlikely because Pierce will probably go nuts and win a few too many games on his own, but so far so good!

The thing that hurts worst from the espn power rankings is the report that Roy is playing great. We coulda had him. I'm sick of this shit.

Please tell me he didn't really say that.
I am truly embarrassed. I mean sure, Delonte and Allen have been working out great at SG while Telfair and Rondo have really done a good job getting other players involved and not turning it over but - oh, yea. None of this is true, we could've really used Roy. I mean, everyone and their mom picked Roy to win the ROY award, how do you trade him for Telfair?

Those power rankings are crap. Despite their records, the Knicks are the worst team in the NBA. The Celts are second worst.
Who will be fired first, Doc or Isaiah?

In some respects, I understand all the stupidity on the other boards. It's like being told you've got a 2 percent chance to beat cancer.
You hold onto the 2 percent and disregard the overwhelming probability that your ass is dead.
And that's exactly the deal with this franchise. There's about a 2 percent chance that two or three of these journeymen Aint drafted will develop into competent NBA players.
But it's OK with the Investment Banker Boys - they're hanging with NBA playahs and they're paying relatively little to do it. Who cares if you win a title as long as you get a chance to put your tongue up Pierce's ass occasionally.
Oh, yeah - and they're armed with about 25 percent of the Celtics fan base who buy their bullshit. "Be patient. Maybe we'll be better in five years, or eight years, or 11 years."
It's the Dubya management model, NBA-style.

My prediction for tonight's huge game:
In an ironic twist, the tables are turned on the old saying "the shit hits the fan," when a number of "fans" storm the bench area to "hit Shits" as the C's fall behind by 20 midway thru the second quarter. With a fat lip and a broken anus, Shits retreats to the safety of the locker room, leaving the team in the woe-begotten, yet dookie-free hands of Tony Brown. "Coach Brown" does little to help the team, as one would expect. Nonetheless, the team is inspired by the fan fervor and stages a miraculous comeback victory. The result causes Adam Morrison to cry on-court - but then again, we're dealing with the Dick Vermeil of the NBA here, so no shocker there.
Any questions?

Well, they still got a win without Al and Telfair. Oh yeah, Telfair wasn't out. He was just non-existent. Wally had a good night. Can we arrange to have a rookie with a reputation for poor defense cover him every night? It was nice to see someone other than Pierce hit a big shot. I think that's the second time in three years that that has happened.

It's only the second time in three years that Pierce passed the ball. RIcky against Memphis.
Oh yeah the Mark Blount shot against Detroit with .8 seonds on the clock where Blount fell on the floor like he'd just beaten the 1998 Bulls in game seven of the ECF. Of course Rip then drilled that jumper in Doc's face. HAHAHAHA!!
It's official, I hate the Celtics.

According to NBA.com, Telfair was 1-4 shooting in the game, and committed 4 personal fouls. He had a grand total of 3 points and 3 assists in 29 minutes of play.

"we seem to be a team without a soul" - truer words have not been spoke. Damn.
Anyway, nice to see a vestigial organ removed from a vestigial roster member. Maybe they can replace the Big Disapointment's heart while they're at it. Put Coc in for a brain transplant and maybe give Alexis a trade of Scalaburine titties. I notice now that people are excited about the return of Ratliff and Scalawaltah, which in many cultures is probably a sign of the apocalypse.
Also, future HOF'er Rajon Rondo was benched in favor of Telmeagainwegaveupbrandonroyforthisidiot and Delonte? Isn't he the only guy on the team that plays defense? Is there any doubt that Coc is completely trying to get fired?

Last year I ended up rooting for the C's to lose so we could end up with a better draft pick ( which Danny ended up pissing away ). Now I'm rooting for us to lose so we can divest ourselves of Coc. There were a few posts back when we gave away Brandon Roy for Telfart that went something like "Way to go, Daneroo, you really fleeced 'em this time!" and "Danny boy has pulled another miracle!!". Now they're talking on the pregame show about how Telfart might end up on the bench, and how bad the extension of Inmate #42 is looking. Doesn't matter if we got Brandon Roy. We would have destroyed him like Kedrick Brown, who would have gotten the $100 million had he got traded to the Suns instead of Joe Johnson.
It would have gone in this order:
Pierce>Wally>TAllen>Gerald Green>Brandon Roy.
Never would have gotten on the court this year.
