It's almost exciting being this bad, I mean, how good of a player could the Celts get in the draft? I almost expect them to go and ruin it with a 5-game win streak at some point, because afterall, they are the Celtics. This season, I'm just not so sure. yeah, it's like last season when they could have nailed down the 6th pick with a loss and instead went out and won the last game of the season. Myassholestnx's Old Bag really got it that night.

Also, I don't think there's any doubt that these imbeciles would trade the pick for a "proven veteran." As bad as things are, I think they look at their problems in this order

1) Too much youth
2) Coc
3) Defense

Yeah, I know, but I really think they think this way. I would put the problem thusly

1) Lack of talent
2) Coc
3) Pierce oriented offense

So I figure Wyc and the boys look at the pick next year as an "asset" to put a semi-big name next to man-crush Pierce and indulge in another season of perplexing failure. They've invested way too much money to tear it down now and start over. Which, unfortunately, is exactly what they need to do.

If we were looking at the Celtics as a medical patient, I think the following recommendations would be in order:
1. Surgically remove Pierce, trading him to the Chicago Bulls for Luol Deng, an expiring contract, and their #1 draft pick in 2007, which is exchangeable with the Knicks this year, and would give the Celtics two very high picks in this years loaded big man draft.
2. A base to head circumcision: it's way past time our Coc got trimmed.
3. Liposuction surgery eliminating the excess fat known as Scalaburine.
4. An enema to Danny, cleansing him of any further acts of bringing in broken down overpaid has beens who prevent younger, more talented players from seeing action.

If this diagnosis is not followed, the night the Celtics won and lost the #6 pick will seem like a picnic to the Old Bag, as she sleeps on her back with her big yap wide open and will severely regret doing so.

One funny thing to watch for tonight, if you like dark comedy, is the spin FoxNewsSportsNE puts on the game if the Celts lose. Last time, Eyore Tanguay and Donnie Walsh were very "optimistic" about the loss and that Fucking Idiot Greg Dickerson said the Magic were "dark horse" contenders to win the East, so the Celts lost to a very powerful opponent. Somewhere in a back room FoxNewsSportsNE's version of Karl Rove is saying, "Hey, we could be looking at a team that's out of playoff contention with 65 games left to go in the season. That won't be very good for ratings, even with the new Celtics Fucking Dance Team. Spin it boys!"

It is kind of amusing that the team didn't bother to explain this failure of a season as a rebuilding year. Instead they claim to have one of the top players in the league (Pierce), Al "I am the future" Jefferson, a top second scorer in Wally, and a plethora of young players with unlimited potential.

Yet here they are, 1-6, worst record in the league, with the poor shmucks on FSNE, Ainge, and Coc attempting to justify the record with positives.

Personally I'd like to see the swoon continue. The first man to go down will obviously be the coach, it's the NBA way. A successfull season to me would be if the team was so bad that it became apparent that Pierce needed a change of scenery and the team went into an intentional rebuilding mode. It's humiliating to watch a team whose pre-season goals are to win the 8th seed and get shat on by LeBron, while earing the 16th pick in the draft so they can select another project.

I agree with you that it takes intelligence to excel at sports, but I don't necessarily think it's the same kind of intelligence that gets a person into college. I'd like to see Gerald get a chance because I think we already know what we get from say, Tony Allen, who coincidentally, actually went to Oklahoma State and, as far as I can tell, is a fucking idiot. The problem with Green is that he's so young that he could suck for the next three years and still be too young to write off. I think it may have been a mistake to draft a guy that can't contribute in the foreseeable future. Are the Celts going to extend his contract after next year (isn't that option time?) if he still hasn't played? Is he going to want to stay on a team that won't give a him a chance and has no chance of winning? Is he just trade bait to begin with? No one really knows what to think of him because no one, including Danny, knows what the FUCK Danny is trying to do with this team. A lot of people, though, including Bill Simmons, still think he's got the goods.

one word conspicuously absent from the Simmons piece: "Wyc." No mention of the fact that the Telfuck trade was a $ saver, nor anything about Wyc's continued refusal to trade Pierce. So it's lovely and all that Simmons is finally seeing the light, but he still fails to put the share of blame on his buddy Wyc. Regarding felonies, I'm waiting to see if there's an investigation into the Fabolous shooting. While Telfair is certainly innocent until proven otherwise, the fact that he called a "family member" after the theft of his necklace and immediately prior to the shooting does not preclude his and his family member's involvement in the shooting, as Bassy and Danny would like us to believe.

Anyhow, who cares? The Celts played well last night, and we should acknowledge that even here. Perk shut down the middle, and Gomes was everywhere. Pierce's shot was falling. It was good game all around. Even Bassy played a little defense in the second half. And Scal was pleasantly nearly non-existent.

Can anyone here tell me exactly what happened this summer? Was Boozer for Old Man Theo/Al really on the table? Was this just an internet rumor? Was it something Danny shot down? Something Utah shot down? It's making me sick thinking that we have to endure Al's downward spiral when we could've had a young player that can actually play.

Also last night's game reaffirmed my worst fear, this team just might be mediocre enough to finish ahead of the true rebuilding teams and land right in the middle of the lottery, where we can add yet another player who won't help turn this team around.

On the bright side Perkins looked mean and Gomes continues to play well. I am saddened by the news that Roy will miss Telfailure -vs- Roy I due to this heel injury, would've made for some interesting discussion.

It was nice to see Perk treat the Pacers like rag dolls, but on most nights against most veteran teams (was Cousey beeing ironic the other night when he kept referring to the Magic as the veteran team?) Perkins fouls out of that game in 15 minutes of action and all that clutching and grabbing that the Celtics were doing results in alot of trips to the free throw line for the Pacers.

They weren't calling much in that first half.

One win does not a season make despite the glowing from Mike Gorman in the 4th quarter last night. You'd think the Celts had just wrapped up home court for the entire playoffs after that win by the way the FSN crew was carrying on at the end of the game. Because of their own fears of irrellevance sadly none of the media that surrounds the team seems to realized the Celtics would be better off winning 20 games this year.

I still have hope.

The Celtics have Coc at the helm and Ainge as the GM. If they get close to becoming a .500 team because of the youth then they'll make a trade for Mike Doleac or Brent Barry.

It's only one win, don't lose hope of a top lottery pick just yet. Gasol will come back, Phoenix will go on a run and that leaves the Celtics, Toronto and Charlotte to duke it out for the NBA basement. Although Rondo is really fun to watch and could be a real good player, any neutral observer would pick those teams point gaurds and big men over the Celtics.

It's all up to Pierce, is he suddenly going to become the guy to make everyone around him better for 82 games? I doubt it.

Don't worry the Celts are lottery bound with one of the worst records in the league.

Willie, it's extraordinary, even in the throes of a .333 start, the belief that time and a spare part player will transform this team, persists. The shame will be if we don't get the #1 pick, and instead have another one of these "bad but not the worst" seasons and get a mid-upper lottery pick, missing out on Oden or Noah, or whatever impact type player is out there. But a blowout victory over a hollow and heartless Indiana team means nothing in the grand scheme of things. We're looking like a high 20's to low 30's win team, and that is the kind of mediocrity that breeds more of itself. Wyc and co better get it in their heads that Oden will sell more tickets over the next five years than this Pierce led disaster, and even if we're not the worst team in the league, we better start acting like it.

EJ - yeah, that Boozer rumor got less hype than the Iverson one, but I thought I heard that the owners didn't want to take on his contract (which, in fairness, might be the right call in the long run). Who knows? The killer is still the nixed Pierce for Chris Paul, which will haunt this franchise for the next ten years. And I agree with you completely, a Pierce trade at this point is an admission of complete failure and I can't imagine that coming to pass. My guess is Ainge will make a desperation trade at the deadline for some "name," probably for our pick, Jefferson or Gomes, and Gerald Green (who he apparently would give away). And we will all rightfully freak out.

I really, really hope I'm wrong, but I feel our recent win streak is going to put us in the worst of all worlds; just good enough to get another mid round lottery pick in a loaded big man draft. Toronto, Milwaukee, Chicago, Minnesota, and Phoenix are all virtual locks to finish ahead of Boston. I am literally praying for Oden, Noah, or Durantat this point. Well, among the many things I have been wrong about, I didn't think the crowd would boo the Celts because I thought most people back there were buying Danny's "Don't expect them to win until they win" ploy. Four miners managed to escape and rescuers were searching for six who were still missing, the reports said.

Xinhua had said on Friday that authorities had sacked two local government chiefs and their deputies after a series of coalmine accidents in the northern province of Shanxi in the past month that killed 55 people.
