This offseason Rondo would be well advised to have a shooting coach. If we can upgrade his shot we've got our point guard. Still, it will come down to the ping pong balls. Keep losing guys. Chad Ford is a bright guy, but I find his thinking strange lately re: Celtics. I mean, is Ray Allen the answer to anything (except for Jerkycsfan's wet dreams)? The Hawks would be willing to trade Childress for Telfair?!! Why don't they just trade Childress for a kick in the nuts, at least they'd retain a shred of self respect. As for this overwhelming need to trade the pick for "veteran help," who out there is going to step in and make a difference? Gasol would make this team a playoff contender (45 ish wins), but he doesn't want to go to Boston and we don't have the pieces anyway. So who else is really available? It's maddening. It's become this reflexive nonsense that suggest the existence of a path that simply doesn't exist. Build around Pierce? You can build a bad team around him, but Danny already has. He's not holding pat today out of any strategic decision, he simply has no moves he can make, He has jammed this franchise into a corner that only time can extract us from.

Bill Simmons had a great article on how DJ should have already been in the Hall of Fame. When you watch some of those old highlights, it reminds one of why we still root for this team, and how, sadly, they deserve better than what they're getting.
yeah BP, that's why the whole "Banner 17" thing really pisses me off. It's an ongoing insult to those guys who were committed to winning and playing team ball (coincidence? I think not). This ownership group is all about finding some magic ratio that keeps the team profitable, regardless of the product on the floor. It's shocking that more people haven't called them out this year, but I guess it's this continuing myth that it was simply an injury bug that hit this squad. Bullshit. It's a flawed design to begin with, populated by manchildren and a "superstar" who doesn't seem to remember that he had a choice to sign for 20 million a year.
