It wouldn't be so bad if my wife didn't have such a crush on "the Captain". It just gets so sickening. 4 more years of watching him drive into triple teams and coughing up the ball..and then having to hear her say, "why does everyone just stand around when he has the ball, why don't they cut to the hoop, he wants to pass!"
ugh.

Ahhh, Dr. Chestnutt, how we've missed you. "Rondo flailed around like a rugby player in a cricket match." That's funny because it's true.
I wonder what they're going to do with all that bronze they bought for Hall of Fame busts for Perk, Wrongo, Gigi, Telfair, and Al Jeff. They may be busts but not of the HOF kind.
Do any of the "G"'s in Gigi stand for "Garbage Time"?
We all knew Perk was a stiff, but, holy fucking shit, I didn't even come close to estimating how bad he sucks. If he's hurt, sit him down. If he's not hurt, sit him down!
I didn't expect to see Busty Telfailure after the trade deadline. Has the D-League trade deadline not passed yet? How bout the high school trade deadline? WNBA?

"Starting at the center position for the Boston Celtics, heeeere's Brian Scalaburine." Holy shit!! Has watching Celtic games been banned by the Torture Bill of Rights? The funny thing is, there's actually a debate going on about should the Celtics tank the season, as if they have a choice between winning and losing. And God help Coc. Speaking about "tank", once the Old Bag asked me to buy her a tank top. I said I would get one sure to fit. She didn't appreciate it at all when I brought home an armored vehicle cover. Fuck the Old Bag, fuck Coc, fuck Ainge, fuck the Celtics and this miserable season.

Danny continues to prove how incompetent Danny is: He has effectively replaced Raef, whom he paid $10M+ per year, with Scal, whom he overpays merely $3M per year. Way to cut costs Danny! Now Scal plays exactly the same game, three-point-chucking-non-rebounding center, that worked so well when Raef did it for this team.

I understand the games are a little embarassing, but we can't really be upset about this, can we?
Over the summer and through all of last season, everyone was arguing, on this site and others. Should we blow the team up and do a total rebuild? or should we stick with pierce and see what happens with what we've got?
Now we are doing both! This is the best of both worlds. No one could have thought before this season that we would have a shot at the number 1 pick without giving up pierce.
I'm thrilled, and i hope we don't win another game all season.

Great take, BTW, Doc. Just another night watching a professional basketball team assplow a team that isn't capable of making the Sweet 16 in the NCAAs.
Can we dispense with the Perkins bullshit? He's a fucking foul machine with offensive skills that make Hank Finkel look like Abdul Jabbar.
Rondo is what he is - a college kid who can't shoot.
Doc is spot on about West: He's playing his way out of a trade chip down into the bag of fertilizer that is about three fourths of our roster.

WPDK - welcome back. I know what you mean with the idea that in a sense, we're getting the best of both worlds (numero uno pick while keeping Pierce), and that's why in the other piece I said that Ainge could walk ass-backward into a respectable legacy (although it won't really happen until he fires Coc). But none of this was planned, and it still leaves us in a position where we spent three years developing guys who are not part of the plan. Or who if they are, are only in the most marginal sense. In a total best case scenario, next year we go with Pierce, Lottery Saviour 1 or 2, and Guy We Get By Trading Jefferson and Green. We still have a ship of fools that was foisted upon us by Danny's "great drafting" in the late 1st round. And these guys will be filling roles that could be filled by older, more experienced NBA journeymen, but apparently our owners are too cheap to fork over the coin to make it happen. And, apropos of nothing, we still don't have a point guard. So yes, I hope they keep losing, I'm glad they're losing, and getting the number one pick would be a rebuilding type move, but I still think we'd have been better off tearing this whole shitty mess down to the ground and starting over from scratch. Truly, it couldn't be a much worse team than it is right now.
JJ - thanks, and I agree on Perk. I thought he'd turned a corner last year (after the faux tough guy idiocy from two seasons ago), but he's turned right back. I know they say he's hurt, but if he is they should shut him down and put Mikey O in there. As for Delonte, it pains me because I really do like his spirit and intensity, but he's way over-extended as a starting PG. Sadly, he doesn't seem like a great bench player either, because he isn't shooting consistently anymore.
Anon, I didn't see the Utah game, but the box score says that Al Jefferson turned the ball over 8 times! Fucking unreal. And as for Scalaburine, it's true. He's not the worst player on this team anymore. He's gone from the Hamcock to the Penthouse. Bizarro World.
Ten Wins - It's sad, because the Captain is a great scorer, but has ever the faith of a fanbase ever been so misdirected at a player who will never be a winner? I mean, that this whole "we have to show Paul we're committed to winning" thing that comes on the heels of him having 1/3 of the team's payroll committed to his extension. I don't get it. I hate Kobe but THAT's a franchise player.
Myassholestnx - god help you if the Old Bag asks you for a "mini" skirt. Those little goddamn coopers are expensive.

I agree that if we get a top pick, Danny should get no credit, and I wouldn't cry if he hit the road after this season with Doc (who must go). But i don't really care about Danny--I care about the Celtics, and a top pick could revitalize this franchise. Furthermore, if we do have Oden/Durant, I think everyone else in the youth brigade becomes immediately dispensable in the eyes of both the fans and the ownership. i mean, i like some of these players (more on personality than on production) but i would trade them all for a new car that oden could use to drive to the garden.
all i am worried about is not getting the pick. then we would be completely and totally fucked.

Did Tommy actually call Paul fat in that game?
Well, after this horrendeous year where Red and DJ couldn't take the Celt's losses anymore, Oden or Durant is the only hope.

It's really that simple. The only hope for this team is that they luck into Greg Oden. Ainge and Wyc were too shortsighted to completely blow up the team and the fact that the Celts have a legitimate chance at lucking into the best center prospect since Duncan is a miracle. Nothing is guaranteed, obviously, we still don't know if they will finish with the worst record in the league and even if they do the odds are less than 50% that they get the #1 pick. With that said, Danny could be on the verge of walking ass backwards into a legitimate franchise center.
And yes, Kobe really is that much better than Pierce. It's not even close.

Realgm posters report that Boston has the most assets this offseason to trade for KG, JO, or Gasol. The Celtics will offer Telfair, West, Ratliff, and Green, grab Oden in the draft, and have a lineup of Oden, KG or Jefferson, Paul, Allen, and Rondo.
I think the poster cut off his post juuuuust before he was about to predict that all starters would average 25ppg and make the all-star team.

hahaha, I love when people post shit like, "Gomes will give Minni the athletic power forward they need to replace Garnett." That's a composite, not an actual quote. But you get the idea. CelticsDoom demands "KG and a 2nd rounder for Gomes, Gigi and Pittsnoggle's expiring contract!"
I can't conceive of any major trade going down with the Celtics that doesn't involve Pierce requesting to be traded. If we get the #1, I think even Wyc understands the gate value of Oden/Durant, and they wouldn't allow it to be traded. At that point, if we continue to suck (as we probably would. Oden's not going to be all that great right away, I don't think), maybe Pierce whines about being moved to play for the championship he believes he deserves. If we get the 3rd pick or higher, I don't see that being much value in a Garnett trade (being that the Bulls still have more NBA-ready talent and two picks in the draft). If Gasol is still on the block, maybe they bite at the pick, the expiring deal and Jefferson, but I'd be shocked if Danny parted ways with Big Al, simply because he's the only player he can point to in his "plan" that is even semi-succesful. And so then who else is out there? Ak-47? I could see Utah moving him for the pick and the deal and other picks, but I doubt Wyc wants to pay max money over the next five years for a "star" that few casual basketball fans are that familiar with. Plus, he's another injury prone white guy. I don't know. As always, I just don't see who "that" player is that's even available for us to make a move for.

Pregame Doc was hyping up the Leon Powe era, who has been inserted into the starting lineup. Then he played him 3 minutes. Scal was so bad. Battier was 1-12. Absolutely pathetic game to watch.

Just looking for a site to post why I hate Doc Rivers so much.
He recently indicated that the DJ funeral was "sensational"...bad choice of words but not a surprise. He also had the nerve to talk about how DJ was a great role player. Give me a break...DJ was a great player and the heart of that great team. Scott Wedman was a role player. Doc Rivers was a role player. DJ was no more a role player than Robert Parish Just because he didn't look for his shot first didn't make him a role player. I'll choke the next moron that makes that statement...Doc Rivers included.
Also...I remember Doc Rivers indicating the Micheal Vick is his favorite athlete. If this man is not a true moron I don't know what is. Why is he coaching our team?
If you see Doc...ask him how his golf membership at Turner Hills is going. Paid over $100K and it's going bankrupt. HAHAHAHAHA. LOSER
Next....Danny Ainge is an idiot. Took a team that was 2 games from the Finals and killed it dead. Big Ego No Ability. And "Thanks Dad" Wyc....no better than "Thanks Dad" Gaston. The Celtics should have been sold to Larry Bird and his group. The Celtics should have gone to Larry as coach well before Rick "The Big Three aren't walking thru that door" Pitino. What the fuck has happened to this team. They must thank the lord for the Bruins every day.

Even Celticsdoomers have to admit that the team looked great in the 4th quarter last night I turned the game on with about 8:30 left and really enjoyed what I saw. I think Pierce only took one shot, completely deferring to Al inside. I was a little embarrassed to see Al's fist pumping antics in a home game against Isiah's Knicks, but he has never played well and won in his life so I guess I can't blame him for being excited. Green was aggressive and energetic and Al was making a serious effort to beat Curry down court in transition. Again I'll need to see consistency for at least a year, and against good teams, before I'll shoot my load but that 4th quarter was highly entertaining and well played. With that said, I have no doubt that if Boston was playing a real NBA team Pierce would've felt like he needed to ballhog his way to 12 fourth quarter points while Green and Jefferson got abused on the defensive end en route to another Celtics loss.

I think the only players Danny drafted that he REALLY wanted are (in order of his crush on them) Rondo, Perk and Delonte. Supposedly he tried to trade Al for Robert Swift during that draft. And Gigi fell into his lap, they hadn't even scouted him. Tony Allen was a Coc pick. Gomes was a 2nd round no-brainer and a local guy. And supercrush numero uno was Marcus Banks, but we saw how well that worked out.
So, in order of lust entering the draft I think it's fair to say his top three objects of desire have been - Swift, Rondo and Banks. Draft genius? You decide.

"We've had our eye on Hash for a while now, we thought that if we were in position to get him, we were going to make that move. It's only once every ten years someone like him comes along. In fact, we had him ranked above Greg Oden on our Big Board."
20 games in, Thabeet is sent to the Developmental League.

So does this mean Delonte won't go for 31 EVERY game?
Anyway, yeah, Thabeet's retched. And exactly the kind of "fuck accountability, this is a 15 year plan" project Ainge so dearly loves.
I like Horford. I think he's tough, and a good pick if we fall out of the top 2. But with Wyc at the helm we'll probably be drafting/trading by Q score. We better pray more Bostonians react positively to the words "Kevin Durant" than to "Ray Allen."

gigi goes 1-14? He ain't fit to eat 14 pies, let alone take that many shots in a functioning NBA offense. He's the next McGrady as much as John Mayer is the next me. Which is to say he ain't. Still waitin' on Wyc Grousbeck to put that dunk "contest" trophy on the back of a pickup truck and wheel it around Harvard square, charging two bits a gander.

The most important thing in the draft will be to pick a "project" type of player, so we can continue to progress in intangible and unmeasurable areas and ignore wins and losses to ensure that there is no way to tell if Danny is doing a good a job.

I learned of two things today that are equally unbelievable. The first is that Coc is going to ask for a contract extension after this season. The second is that wives are being encouraged to perform a strip tease and pole dance for their husbands before bedtime to "spice up" the marriage. Both of these discoveries made me puke. I've accepted a life in purgatory with the Old Bag, whose first item of removal for a strip tease would be her flea collar. But if Ainge puts me through one additional second of Coc after this season, it will be more than this poor soul can stand. Gentlemen, it will have been nice knowing all of ye.

when Joseph Smith was finishing reciting to his stenographer the last few lines that God was decreeing to him that be written down in the book of Mormon he said to his stenographer.
"God is telling me there are two more things that he wants, the first is that he wants this book to be published, the second is that he wants you to pay for it."
Replace Smith with Ainge, the book with the "vision" of banner 17, and Celtic fans with the stenographer.

Do you suppose the miserable performance tonight will stem any of the "don't trade anyone" nonsense starting to spring up on the other boards?
For the love of Christ, Pierce comes back, we win a few ballgames and all of a sudden we're championship contenders?

That Celticsblog article is absolutely painful. Perk/Green/Scal/Theo/West for Garnett. YA Bankshot, Minnesota must be DYING to unload a ten time all-star for Kendrick Perkins.
Ray/Perk/Green/Rondo/Ratliff/Allen/West/Wally (!!!) for KG, James, Hudson, and Jaric. Obviously Minnesota would jump all over the opportunity to deal Garnett for over half of the 2nd worst team in the NBA.
Also they are saying KG won almost 60 games with not even half of the supporting cast we could provide - Umm Sam Cassell and Latrell Sprewell anyone? Proven winners. Anyone currently on the Boston Celtics – not so much.
That blog is unreadable most of the time in my opinion. Just a bunch of stupid nonsense.

Amen, EJ. It's a bunch of ignorant prattle, most of it for the sake of impressing the equally ignorant ownership of the Celtics.
I'm sure McHale would be pleased to swap his bona-fide aging star for two large bags of Danny's trash.

While we're at it:
Nothing that has happened to the Celtics this year is as disgraceful and distasteful as the haphazard, gutless attempt to make money off Red's demise with that ugly fucking line of Adidas souvenirs.
Grousbeck continues to piss on the great traditions of this franchise with the deft touch of an ax murderer.
Disgusting.

haha... i also read that insane trade idea by Bankshot, and I was thinking the same thing. Boy, Minnesota must be chomping at the bit to acquire all those stiffs.
The funniest thing is that most of the posters believe they could make an offer for KG without including Al Jefferson. Jefferson, Green, and two first rounders would be the absolute starting point for any kind of KG discussion, and it would go up from there. My opinion.

I don't understand why people think that because the Celtics have Theo Ratliff they will be able to trade for a superstar player. What stops Celtics fans from taking a step back and thinking "If I had Jermaine O'Neal, would I trade him for Theo Ratliff's contract?" Why would any team do a trade like that.
Also Celtics fans need to come to the realization that adding in Kendrick Perkins, Sebastian Telfair, and Minnesota's first round pick in 2009 are *NOT* realistic options to get a deal done for a superstar. I just can't imagine a team wanting our crap. Best case scenario I could see the Sonics trading Rashard Lewis for less than actual value in an attempt to shed salary in preparation for a sale and a move to OK City. Sort of like when our retarded team let Rodney go.
I could see Theo's deal bringing back a disgruntled star that we wouldn't really want anyways, like a Steve Francis. To get Jermaine, Gasol, Garnett, etc. it's going to cost the Celts any combination of Jefferson, Pierce, and our pick, along with Ratliff to get it done. Teams don't trade stars in their prime for expiring contracts unless there is something seriously wrong.
I think I'm gonna go to realgm and propose a Duncan for Ratliff/Perk/Telfair/Wally trade (Wally just to make salaries match) - and explain that the Spurs really need to get younger and get under the cap in preparation for the "09 offseason. I am pretty sure some of the dumbshits over there would think the trade would help both teams.....ARGGGHHHH.... Why couldn't Mark Cuban have been a Celtics fan?

Oh, that Old Bag, she better not sleep on her back tonight, she's liable to get a shit sandwich for a midnight snack. She's never forgiven me for the time that good looking female cop pulled me over and told me anything I said would be held against me and my response was "Tits".

Arrgh! The Celtics appear to have morphed into an average-to-good team. team. Couldn't they just fucking wait until the end the fucking year?? Why did the allow Pierce to put on his fucking uniform? SA landed Tim Duncan by inviting Robinson sit out the season when he was hurt. Imagine this team with Durant??? Play Telfailure 48 strong. Fake a practice ankle injury to AJ. Just so NO to wins.

There are now calls on RealGM to just let Ratliff's contract expire. We're going to need his money to resign all the kids because they're going to bring us banner 17.

Rocky, forget my thunder, steal the Old Bag, please!!! The mention of Xavier reminded me of that Penthouse columnist, Xaviera Hollander. I would have loved to have smelled her asshole. The Old Bag's asshole should have a manhole cover over it. A garbage disposal smells better. She couldn't even make the cover of Outhouse magazine. We did the Nutcracker last night, she sat on my lap. Jungle Jim, when I read where one C-blogger compared the Spurs victory to winning a championship, I realized how low this franchise had sunk. Being a Celtic fan is so like being married to the Bag, there's solace in the fact that things can only get better, there's nowhere to go but up.
