Gravatar Have they no shame whatsoever?

No. No, they do not.

Tsk tsk Dawg. Even the Four Knuckleheads get their day in court. Anything less, and we'd have the same thing that happened to Abdelrazik, Arar and one or two others.

I think their concern is the inevitable wrongful death lawsuit; a finding of misconduct by Braidwood would tend to make that a slam dunk. My best guess is that they're buying time so that the two-year limitation on transfer of assets expires, and whatever relative is now holding their assets will get to keep them after the civil judgement.

Besides, the BC Court of appeal will hand 'em their asses on a plate, extra crispy. Ditto for the SCC (it it goes that far). That means the next bunch of neadertha...er...police officers who pull this kind of stunt won't have that option available as a delaying tactic.

They get their day in court. Live with it.

No Peter, it’s not just them. Any ordinary citizen would already have had their day in court. This whole sorry episode is a full page ad (4-colour) in every paper in Canada regarding the systemic failure and corruption of one of Canada’s iconic institutions. Never mind “have they no shame”. Have they no honour? I will tolerate nothing less than seppuku over this.

Gravatar I am so glad my late father, a 33 year veteran of the Force, is not alive to see this spectacle. He joined in 1932 and was always proud to be a Mountie. I am not so sure he would feel that way now.

Gravatar "have they no shame"

Obviously not.

"Have they no honour?"

See above.

Should they be denied access to a court to have their arguments heard?
Hell, no.

If you're going to make the due process argument for Abdelrazik, Arar et al, you must make it for everybody. Otherwise you've put yourself in the same category as Harper, Cannon et al, who think that "obviously guilty" means we shouldn't waste our time and effort with due process.

"Any ordinary citizen would already have had their day in court."

Not necessarily. This wouldn't be the first case where charges came up years after the fact.
None, not one, of the Four Knuckleheads is acting outside the law when they petition the BC Court of Appeal. They didn't agree with the lower court ruling, and it is their right under due process to seek a review of that decision by a higher court. So suck it up and live with it, or explain to me why due process doesn't apply to them.
