Gravatar Sorry, couldn't read through the whole post. Perhaps you took too much sun while on vacation.

The US Democrats are to the RIGHT of the Conservative Party of Canada.

That Ian Brodie leaked a conversation that never should have taken place (which is a smack at Obama's buddy, also, IMHO - wtf was he thinking?) is a given. Should he either resign or be fired? Hell, yes.

But to paint this as anything other than a person who has far exceeded his competence is pure partisan BS.

Gravatar I'm amazed you could write nearly 800 words on the controversy and not even mention what the leak was about -- Obama telling the American public he would end NAFTA, while reassuring the Canadian government that he was just telling the rubes what they want to hear.

And if the intention was to help the Republicans, don't you think Harper would have leaked that information after Obama is nominated, rather than while the Democrats still have a viable alternative?

Gravatar David Frum summed it nicely with "Why is it our job to shield an American politician from the wages of his own duplicity?".

BTW - apparently Brodie mentioned this during a discussion with reporters about the federal budget where Obama's policy, if implemented, would have repercussions.
