Gravatar I don't know - she seem stubborn enough to hang in there. She's currently being tutored on foreign policy by Bush's people, cramming for her speech. She likely thinks she's on a mission from God. For real. And you know those types will sacrifice their families, lie, cheat, extort, whatever in order to fulfill God's wishes.

And as far as being given the boot, McCain will lose the Xtian Right whackos if that happens, so I think they'll keep her. Gross incompetence, ethics violations, and outright bullshit mean nothing to these people. They embrace, surround and protect people like Palin, not put them on an ice floe where they belong.

My money is on her staying, but I do hope you're right.

McCain has shown himself to be dangerously impulsive with very poor instincts. Unfit to lead.

Gravatar Damn, Dr Prole, and just when he was so close to getting your and Dr. Dawg's support.

Gravatar Swing non-voters, that's us! : )

Gravatar Au contraire! I can indeed vote in the US. Hooray!

Gravatar Over at AlterNet, someone's sayin' McCain's too much of a fraidy cat to drop Palin.

Gravatar They aren't going to replace her 8 weeks before the election. That would be the end of McCain. Even if this is the biggest mistake since McGovern's Eagleton pick and switch in 1972, they can't change course now.

If her speech bombs tonight (and I think it won't because it will be a very touchy feel-y emotional speech that will be aimed at the fundagelical soccer mom crowd), she will be kept out of the media limelight and spend her Vice Presidency cutting ribbons at faith basic charity gatherings, Dan Quayle style.

Gravatar "Sarah Palin: book-banner, incompetent manager, vengeful ideologue, power junkie. Mean-minded, narrow, rewarding loyalty over ability."

My god Dawg. I beleive this described the political left dominated HRCs perfectly.

Let me see, I'll take a wild guess and say this email was likely written by someone that did not agree with Palin's right politics, but would be in total support of book banning otherwise.

Gravatar Gosh, while we're groaning under the yoke of human rights commissions, all American dissenters (and lawyers, and reporters) face is jack-booted riot cops. It just isn't fair! I want my green card!

Gravatar How are those odds looking this morning, Dr. Dawg?

Still, it's going to be a long campaign and although she seems to be blowing away the corruption/creationist charges and weathering the family attacks, this ticking bomb buried in that e-mail has all of us on the right holding our breaths: Before she became so powerful, very ugly stories circulated around town about shenanigans she pulled to be made point guard on the high school basketball team. Big trouble coming from the left on that one and, in response, we've been trying to confirm rumours that Obama exceeded the poster limits in his student president election. Nothing concrete yet.

Meanwhile, I can't sleep for excitement over the upcoming Layton/Dion/Harper debates on the carbon tax.

Gravatar I thought that point guard stuff was over the top, for sure, like that ludicrous press reference to Todd's DUI charge--22 years ago, before they were married. Good grief. I bet they had a dog that bit somebody once.

All that chaff (amid, however, substantial wheat) reminded me of my great aunt, who for some reason disliked then-PM Lester Pearson with a passion. "My neighbour knew someone who went to grade school with him," she told me. "And she said he was always a mean little skunk."

Don't count out the October Surprise, though. That's when the independent report on Troopergate is coming out.

Meanwhile, I can't sleep for excitement over the upcoming Layton/Dion/Harper debates on the carbon tax.

Yeah, I know. Americans are having all the fun, as usual.

Gravatar Dr Dawg:

Americans are having all the fun, as usual.

They sure are. Whenever I read one of Aeneas's or Sir Francis's jeremiads about how treasonous any Canadian who doesn't make a fulltime job out of battling the rapacious Yankee trader is, I want to scream: "OK, we're more polite, peaceful, civilized, socially just, yada, yada, but why do we have to be so *&^%#$% boring?"

Gravatar your latest news from William Hill:

NOW PALIN FACTOR GIVES McCAIN A BOOST

FOLLOWING Sarah Palin's speech to the Party, John McCain has been backed from 13/8 to 6/4 to win the US Presidential Election with William Hill, who have lengthened Barack Obama from 4/9 to 1/2 favourite. Mrs Palin is 8/1 to stand down as McCain's running mate before Election Day, but Hill's spokesman Graham Sharpe commented, 'Following Sarah Palin's speech we have seen a run of support for a McCain victory.'

Heh.

Gravatar Where's the bounce?

Gravatar Merkins like pit bulls with lipstick, huh?

Has me wondering if she's into BDSM...

Gravatar you are an idiot. really. you are.
