I wrote the Wikipedia entry on labiaplasty, using board-certified plastic surgeons as the source of information. It was probably the most miserable writing experience of my life. The problem? Many of the editors at Wikipedia are ardent feminists who decry any procedure at all on the female gentitalia. Even when I point out the matter is basically a private one between a doctor and his/her patient, they respond: "And that makes it right!?" Well they have left my edits in place now that I have a publication in the medical literature to back them up. They had deleted some of my edits before calling my observations unsubstantiated.
It's their site so their rules are what they are. Consistency is nice though.
