Not wishing to denegrate Samir in any way - but - couldn't they have hired a transgender person to develop policy on our community? There's certainly enough people out there who know the issues intimately - but - it's inherently disempowering to have non-trans people be the experts on our lives.

Good point, Kathy. I note that the HRC Business Council, which advises the HRC Foundation, includes trans people. Until recently it was Jamison Green and Donna Rose, and now it's Diego Sanchez and Meghan Stabler. They all had a chance to give input on the work product.

Kathy

Both Diego and I are trans representatives on the Business Council, the non-poitical workplace/business side of HRC. Our daily participation and involvement with HRC DOES NOT deminish, or stop, our calling out for an inclusive-ENDA. Indeed on the press release today, issued by HRC I made certain that I was quoted about it:

“Until we have a fair-minded Congress and president who will make a fully-inclusive ENDA the law of the land to treat the GLBT community as equal Americans in society, there will be an urgent need for employers to use resources like ‘Transgender Inclusion in the Workplace,’” said HRC Business Council member Meghan Stabler. “Even after an inclusive ENDA is enacted, we’ll need this resource to eradicate the ignorance and fear that make it so difficult for workers to transition in the workplace.”

Many people were involved in the content and review for the latest edition, including several trans-community members other than myself.

Within HRC there is an open position available within the Diversity Organization - http://www.donnarose.com/ HRC_Ass...versity_Job.pdf

Should anyone be willing, able and strong enough to endure the current climate the job is there for the taking.

Regards to all

- Meghan

Jill, I'm glad you reviewed the document and gave comment. Your work is important, as is your lens.

In addition to the other improvements you mention, and some of the shortfalls (which we'll fix, by the way), one NEW element is key: this is a working document that will be updated regularly ONLINE. The goal should be that the third printed edition will be even richer, but before that, we'll keep updating it, which I mention in my quote in the announcement news release. I concur with your comments on sections that were too short, but time was the enemy. Fortunately, we can make it current, fuller and updated because it will be kept live online. Thanks for all you do. Your friend and colleague, Diego

Thanks, Diego and Meghan, for your comments. You are both wonderful, and I'm glad to hear that you had input on this document.

Patting yourselves on the back does nothing to alter the fact that HRC is solely guilty for the ENDA betrayal and that Joe's HRC is still using us (you) solely as unwelcomed pawns. Wake up!

P.S.: I was sickened by Despicable-Joe's attempt to sell this as being pro-T* when in fact he is telling us: "here, I made this piece of paper so YOU can take it to your employer and get your ENDA rights from them... we are too busy over here getting an official state sponsored ENDA for ourselves...we'll call you if we need to bulk up our numbers or if we need your money... but don't call us, we'll call you"

It is good HRC is trying to make the effort now
